You mean that you will have to start bugging Google...
Not Google but HTC. And I already dig bug them.

Are you saying that you continue to get that popup even after you go into your text settings and turn off the Sent Notification check box?
I use Handsent as my default text program, so I have no Stock Message notifications setup, this means I am not familar with your issue?
Thanks, since I already updated is there a reason to do a factory reset? Also I think this may be from the swype update but now no matter what i try I cannot get the dictionary turned off after every word it wants to know if I want to add the word to the list. Sorry for such silly questions this is my first android phone and I have had it for two weeks.Welcome to the forums!
Glad you got that squared away. Not sure about your Android experiences, so if I may, please see my post on the first page about factory data resetting.
Remember!
This is a major update.
Typical major updates in Android will often leave cache areas stale, dirty, and tangled.
This can inhibit proper operation of update features -- and can even lead to the appearance of old things that were working to be broken now.
For best results, save as much as possible (consider MyBackup Pro, for example), and perform a factory data reset.
If in doubt, ok to wait - but at the first sign of issues, best to give that a go.
Since July 2010, I have never updated without doing a factory data reset.
Others on the forum will attest that this is the way to go.
Not an HTC issue, not a Sprint issue - an Android-wide issue.

At the heart of Android is a thing called the Dalvik Virtual Machine. It's what your apps run under. And it has its own cache. And updates tend to never clear that out.
That's the main issue.
Rooters know to always clear this on rom updates.
Factory data reset is your way to get it done properly if not rooted.
The rev of Talk with this feature exists, it's simply not included for us.
I expect that was a Sprint decision and they ordered the configuration from HTC without it.
Rooters are able to install the working version - not a shameless rooting commercial, just saying, it exists and can work.
Until then, Skype or Qik are the alternatives.
EarlyMon said:One of our pals here said:Just read your post about the Evo3d update and doing the full reset. So can I just get the free version of the backup program, run it and then do the reset? Should I write down all the apps I have so I know which ones to get back or will that app take care of all that for me? Thanks for any help!
You might check in the market.android.com and see that it has a list of your apps under "My Account" - ditto for your contacts, goto Gmail on the web, Contacts is linked on the left side of the page. Check back with me if all of your contacts are not there.
If you go into Settings, Privacy, there's a check box to back up to Google. Make sure that's checked, then Settings, Accounts, and Sync all.
To be safe, maybe grab free SMS Backup in the Market.
I can't say on this version - you may or may not lose your homescreen setups with MyBackup Pro (last time I'd used it - that was lost) - and it ought to save your app data.
But - expect that the best you can do a "way pretty good" backup and some stuff you will just have to do over by hand.
Hope this helps!
I am just saying that Google is supposed to release Google talk with Video/Voice chat within the Market, which device do you know that offers this updated Google talk app, except for the Nexus devices?
Same as for the EVO View 4G for Sprint.
What do you make of this?
Sorry for the delay in answering - was off busy putting spammers to the chopping block! <grrrr spammers grrrrrrr>
OK - here's the procedure:
Update first, then factory data reset.
Here's how to do it:
homescreen, Menu, Settings, SD & phone storage, last option at the bottom. Make sure that "Erase SD card" is NOT checked on that next page you'll see.
This is going to wipe your phone clean - so you want to do a backup.
From today's mailbox:
ok so. I downloaded the update but didn't install it. It's no longer in my notification bar but it's saved on my sd card. How do I get it to install?
I believe that if you go to the system update and attempt to search for new updates again it recognizes you already downloaded the file on your SD and prompts you to install what you have downloaded rather than download it again. Give it a try see if it works.
Thanks. Trying it again.. the first time I tried this is just kept "checking."
Thanks for this. I actually also wiped the SD card (I'm anal like that). One thing I've noticed after the update: the fake camera shutter sound and focus beep seem to still be sounding off, even if I have my phone on vibrate. Couldn't seem to stop this from happening... maybe I'm missing a setting somewhere?
I appreciate your interest in providing useful information for others.
Thanks for the tip. Just to clarify, are we supposed to do a factory reset first and then do the update? On a related note, does doing a factory reset uninstall the latest update (i guess the answer to that question would answer my first one!)
And - what I make of that announcement is just what it says - Sprint/HTC are not releasing the Talk with video update for any of our devices, the flyer is just one more.
Bandwidth concerns? Proxy concerns? Support concerns?
Seems they're not worried about bandwidth, or they wouldn't be pushing Qik. So, why they did this? <Early: palms up and shrugs>
Thanks. Trying it again.. the first time I tried this is just kept "checking."
Nope - just started downloading again.
Bummer! I've never really seen it leave the Notification area. I sat with an update in the notification bar for the Evo 4G for a week or longer one time (back when people were getting blacked out devices after the update).
One other way to try is to restart the phone. I remember after every restart it would prompt me to install the update I had previously downloaded. I'm guessing you are downloading it again, but it is just a heads up for the future or other people that may read this.
