Root [ROM]Liquid Gingerbread v2.6 Release

Well, the built-in LED flasher works fine for the basic purpose of flashing the LED when you have a notification.

My problem is that LightFlow lets me managed notifications for my whole system, with interspersed LED colors for multiple notifications and vibration types/lengths/repetition, set up blinks for apps that don't normally do it... it's all very thorough and nice.

But since CM7 and CM7-based ROMs have this LED notification thing built in, it kills my ability to use the app.

The LED notification system built into CM7 is okay. It works, for sure. But if you start using the advanced features, like flashing multiple colors for multiple notifications (e.g. if I have an email and SMS, it can flash two alternating colors), the DX doesn't seem to love it. Again, they work, but the blink rate is all weird and there are warnings about battery life - and I don't experience the battery life drop with LightFlow that CM7 warns you about.

It also doesn't have settings for everything I want, and no vibration control - so, I'm trading great functionality (LightFlow) for mediocre functionality, with no way to turn it off.

Nothing to do with 2nd-init ROMs, by the way. OMGB and OMFGB both work great with LightFlow - I'm using OMFGB now.

Huh. That's not good. Granted, I've tried Light Flow off and on, and I'm not totally sold on it, but not having ANY LED notifications work for my SMS is not good. Is CM7 the only one that really has a problem then?

I think I'm not being clear.

The notifications work. If you want notifications on CM7, you're covered.

What doesn't work as well are the advanced settings that let you intersperse notification colors for multiple notifications. There are some oddities with blink rate.

ALSO, those advanced settings don't cover as many settings/apps/choices/customization as LightFlow does.

However, the fact that CM7 has this notification system customized makes it impossible to use LightFlow.

CM7 and CM7-based ROMs have this problem - Liquid GB, for instance. Also, I never got it to successfully work with MIUI but a couple people said they did, so I'm not going to say 100% that it doesn't work.

Light Flow is working perfectly on this rom. It disables the "stock" lights and every notification color that I've set up comes through flawlessly and blinks in succesion as well. I use it for notifications from a missed call all the way through Scrabble notifications when it's my turn to play without a hiccup.

Very odd, I can't get it to work on any CM7 based ROM and the developer indicated he thought it was a problem. Are you using the stock method or the alternate method in the LightFlow settings?

I'm not sure what you mean by stock or alternate settings. I am using just Light Flow, nothing within the Liquid Interface settings.. In the Light Flow settings I have the following boxes checked: Enable Light Flow, Enable clear all, Accessibilty Check, Version Upgrade Reminder and I also have custom sleep setting set up in there, too.

Interesting. I had zero issues with this ROM while I was on it. Used it for a few weeks too. Battery life was good for me, better than CM7 which is just horrible.

As for LED's they worked for me no probs. Now Im back on Liberty and SMS LED's dont work. Time to install Lightflow and hope for the best.

I recently went from Apex 1.4 to CM7. I liked the customization and could even deal with the nightlies and the constant flashing, but the battery life was horrid. The first time I set everything up and used the phone I was shocked to see the rate of battery discharge as I was web browsing. My phone's battery felt like an hour glass (cm7) as opposed to a vegitated comma patient (i.e. apex). I went from 20 - 24 hours down to scrambling to get 12 with moderate use. Even after V6, underclocking, and the conservative governor CM7 was sucking the extended battery dry.

I installed Liquid about 2 days ago and....wow. With the exact same setup, battery life is night and day. I have yet to have a single glitch or random restart. Even after hours of exploring there are still options I haven't completely customized yet. I think I found my new Apex (in terms of stability and batt life).

First day trying this one out after trying CM7, MIUI, and then Shuji. So far.. I'm actually quite impressed with the battery life.. 10 hrs of use thus far, with a little over 3 hours of screen on time (lot's of phandroid, web browsing, emails, texting, facebook), and the phone still has 40% battery life left. On CM7 and MIUI, the battery would be around 25% with the same use. We'll see how things continue down to that final 1%, and a screenshot will be taken. Also, the Liquid settings menu is pretty nice with the available customization.. nicely organized.

No, I got what you were getting at. My problem is that mine don't work at all right now in either Handcent or Go SMS. Which is ticking me off, frankly; I liked having the ability to tell who was texting me via LED colour, and I can't get any to work. Light Flow, not that I looked all that carefully, only seemed to give me one colour per app, whereas I want to have different colours for different numbers.

However, right now I'd just take ANY LED working. So, ok, if CM7 apparently at least works in that respect, that's good.

If you're not using Light Flow I would recommend it. I use Go SMS and my notification lights work using Light Flow. The settings are very specific but if you follow them they'll work.

Having an issue after installing this rom. My apps stop downloading from the market and when I go to the market to manually install the app it gives me an error saying there is not enough space for it. My SD card has 9 gigs available and internal memory is showing 5 gigs available. Help!

i've tried rebooting several times. this is the second time i've run into this problem after installing this rom. i wiped data, cache, dalvik cache before and after installing.

So far this one has been the best on battery for the cm7 based roms. I'm on day one after a battery calibration and already seeing a noticeable difference in battery consumption with the same use.

Now if I could only get a custom banner on my lock screen and notification drop down and the honeycomb lockscreen ala OMFGB and I'd be really happy.

Anyone running the imoseyon tweaks on top of this? If so any differences noticed?

I caved in and installed Liquid GB, gotta say it's pretty nice. One thing I'm having though is adding another language in the keyboard settings. Whenever I go to input language, I get a force close :(. Before this ROM I was on OMFGB and deleted dalvik cache/data/cache and did a factory reset and mounted data in CWR and then installed the ROM. Anybody else encounter this?

Edit: So I guess nobody was having the same issue I was or everybody uses some other keyboard other than stock. The way I fixed it was replacing the LatinIME.apk on this ROM from another ROM. Using rootexplorer I renamed the old stock keyboard and swapped it for the one from another ROM. Permissions were set as the previous file and restarted the phone. Only then was I able to switch from language via the spacebar below. I can't believe that worked!

I loved liquid on my original droid. But this DX is confusing me on gingerbread roms. If I am currently running Apex RC 2.0, do I just flash this through the D2 bootstraper, or do I need to sbf back to froyo? My searching is not proving fruitful. Thanks,

Can I get just a little more clarification on this question? I had rooted deodexed .596 GB, then flashed to Apex RC 2.0. I've been very happy with it, except for the frequent camera crashing and some LED/vibrate notification issues. Great performance. But I'm hearing so many good things about the new Liquid that I wanted to try it out. However, since I spent several hours recovering from a bricking session the last time I tried to flash a ROM, I wanted to be certain I understood the process correctly before I attempted it again.

I have a current Apex ROM Manager backup, as well as an old GB ROM Manager backup from right before I flashed to Apex. I have all my apps and data backed up with Titanium Backup. I have Droid 2 Bootstrapper installed and functional.

So what's the correct process to go from Apex RC 2.0 to Liquid 2.6?

I saw this comment from rehpyc:

Any GB based ROMs (ApeX, AOSP Liberty/Liberty GB, Shuji) are flashed while on .596 GB.

But what exactly does that mean? Can I just download and install Liquid 2.6 right over the top of Apex RC2.0? Do I need to use ROM Manager and go back to the old .596 GB backup, and then just download/install Liquid over the top of that? Do I need to SBF back to something at any point in this process?

As great a learning experience as my last bricking was, I'd really like to avoid going through it again, so I appreciate anyone with brains and experience (both of which I apparently lack when it comes to flashing ROMs) to preemptively help me out with a clarified roadmap. :)

Thanks a bunch!

Sbf to 340
Root with z4 root
Download rom manager
install 2nd init clockwork recovery
Reboot into recovery with Droid 2 bs
Clear data cache dalvik cache
Flash liquid
Reboot and you should be running liquid
