Help Not quite Gingerbread, but getting closer

The title is kinda false. The RUU is not actually the OTA it is a leaked build they are still working on. Once of the rom devs actually got this back on 7/17 and waited a month to release it to the wild, he did put the radio out however.

@redraider1 are you rooted or did you install the RUU in hboot?

dont hold your breath for this to be pushed to phones,IMO... its still somewhat laggy at times, and is not the smoothest or most fluid rom ive ever run. on top of that, the VM notification prollem is still there,as is the slow charge prollem.

as yeaha said, this is simply an official build,NOT the official OTA. its definately got some refining before its ready for prime time.

but at least you can root it now after youce accepted it and are bummed out it looks just like froyo :D

Are you rooted? According to the market

Do you clean your cache often?

I haven't ran stock firmware in enough time that I wouldn't know if running this was any faster (not to mention I won't be flashing this)

No I am not rooted and I have only cleaned my cache about 3 times since I have had the phone(since launch day) It's been a few days and is still running much snappier than it was with froyo when I first got the phone. I mean if people don't believe me oh well it works for me and I know how my phone runs and performed before and after.

Yes it was just like it was before I updated my phone. All the texts and app data was the same.

iiiiim not sure how you were able to app and system data without being rooted

irregardless, even if you restored all app and system data, you have still cleaned out your caches by flashing this, wich is why your phone is smoother. GB by default is smarter and better at killing off unneeded background apps and process. maybe a combination of freshing up your caches and such, and a more dramatic affect of GB vs froyo on your particular device.

this update didnt feel particularly smooth or fast to me,but it might be because ive become spoiled by AOSP ;)

It has also been brought to my attention there are folders that are created within data/system/ folder on the root directory that store stuff like app useage, locations, ect... these do not appear to go away unless there is a factory reset so when you installed the leak these should have been cleaned up.

Well it's been on about a week now and still isn't showing the type of lag that I was experiencing on froyo. Of course AOSP is going to be smoother since it is stock and doesn't have all the bloat on it.

We aren't doubting your phone is snappier just think it has more to do with the wipe than the fact you are on a leaked update.
