Help Problem with making/receving calls

I'm on my second Photon and still have the same issues. Since I'm so late in the 30 day period I'm just holding out for the OTA update. If that doesn't come by the end of the week it's going back and I'll wait another couple weeks for the SGSII or Nexus Prime. I really like this phone but damn, I need the phone to work.

So i've been having an issue with my phone calls.

Whenever I try to dial someone, it doesn't go through. I don't even get the little sound signaling the phone is about to dial.

But apparently it does dial out and I just can't hear the phone dial or when someone picks up. However i'm heard on the other end of the call.

The only way to fix the issue is by rebooting my phone.

This has happened to me 3x since i've gotten the phone. Anyone else have this issue?

I just logged onto this site to search for this problem and it was the first thread I saw. I've had my phone for about 5 days and this happened this morning. It was dead silent on the other end. No static or anything.

A reboot solved the problem.

Mike

Ha. Well welcome to the forum. Sorry it's under such bad circumstances.

Yeah it's happened to me a few times. I've had the phone since release, and it's probably happened 3 or 4 times already. It's very annoying. Especially since the phone takes a little while to reboot.

I came to the Photon from a Blackberry Tour. I will never complain about a reboot after that. 15 minutes easily. Even worse when it decided to do it on it's own.

Two days ago, I removed my SIM card. I have not had the silent call issue since. That being said, I also installed the MR-5 update yesterday, so it could be one or the other. I will say that my phone at least seems a bit snappier and dependable since the update.

At the risk of a stupid question - how can I tell if I have that update and if not, how can I get it? I checked for updates on the phone and it said there are none available.

I'm having this silent call issue also, as recently as this morning.

Thanks.

Merged with pre-existing thread discussing this issue.

Did it to me again today....

Nothing is guaranteed. I have learned the hard way. We can only hope that they even know why the problems occur and have pinpointed a remedy.
Very true. I'm just going to return it before my 30 days are up and go back to my Evo until I hear otherwise. Then I'll decided on the Galaxy or Photon...

I may return mine as well, and go back to the evo 3d, which I had and returned in June due to poor call quality, but it seems to be supported a lot better, sprint does not even have photon screen protectors, I am using the one for the evo 4g, and their is a little gap, I mean if sprint can not support their own phones, their is a problem, yes, I know, I can go to ebay and get them there, but the point is they have every other screen protector, except the photon, and as far as cases, go to bestbuy and see how many evo 3d cases there are, none for the photon. I may just return it, get my money back, and go to best buy, and restart my 30 days, how does their return policy differ from sprints?

I think I'm going to stick with the Photon and pray that the Nexus Prime comes to Sprint in Nov (I know it is a long shot). The SGS2 looks sweet but the Prime will be better I think.

As you probably already know, that's the dilemma we're always going to face with technology - . That is, whatever we buy, that there's always something better coming out around the corner.

Best Buy has a rocketfish case for the Photon and also a Zagg Shield.

Wouldn't recommend the rocketfish case...

30 day return policy.

Menu>Settings>About Phone and look at your Build Number. It most likely will end in 1. For the leaked maintenance release, go HERE.

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this now...

I've been having the issue very consistently every day... however, I just recently took a vacation to Upper Michigan for a week in which there are no Sprint towers (I was considered roaming, even though I don't get charged for roaming). Interestingly enough, not once did my phone have the issue. Today.. I am back in Wisconsin in my home network and right away this morning, I had the ghost call issue.

Do you guys think this could be a tower issue? Just seems oddly coincidental that it worked fine on a roaming tower.
