HTC 4G - Android 2.3.3 - Rooted w/ Revolutionary

Recently rooted with Revolutionary.. Thanks for the easy guide ocnbrze!

Worked perfectly ever since Friday night when I flashed Kinged Pyramid 1.9

Today downloaded CPU Tuner from the market to see what kind of stats I could get with some testing..

I maxed out the mhz, hit ok when superuser popped up, then it sat frozen for a minute on the so-and-so has been granted superuser permission screen. Then a minute turned into a few, so I did a battery pull when the power button had no response.

Now Im trying to turn it back on and it just sits on the white HTC Screen.

I did another battery pull and booted into recovery mode. From there I looked around at the advanced options and didnt see anything I thought would work, so I rebooted from recovery - thinking if that worked, great, if not I would restore from a Nandroid backup.

The reboot from recovery stalled on the white HTC Screen, so I want to power on into recovery mode.. When I hit power and vol down, It loads up like normal into boot mode or whatever it is called. I scroll down to recovery and hit the power button, then it boots to the white HTC screen and stalls there..

So my questions is how can I boot into full recovery mode to access my backups and do a restore?

Thanks for any help, please dont tell me I have to go back to the BB Curve until my upgrade hits in April lol.

that jingle is SOOOOOPER annoying... I recommend a different bootanimation TO EVERYONE lol theyre really easy to change, but i digress... often..... just ask ocn LMAO!! And if the cache and dalvik doesnt work, do a VR superwipe along with the manual ones suggested earlier (a couple times for good measure) and reinstall the rom. If THAT doesnt do it for ya, then do a factory reset , VR, manual(wipes) and reinstall... sometimes these lil devices we all know and love can be a tid bit fickle... oh, and since im on a random-nothing-to-do-with-the-original-question-advice kick, an apple a day keeps the doctor away

Ok I tried to restart the phone - the Rom flashed, but was running slow and buggy -

It just sat stuck in the King Flash Screen for about 30 minutes. I did a battery pull and went back to the boot screen. Re-wiped everything and tried to run the VR Superwipe, but it had an error about the coding?

I re-flashed the Kinged Pyramid 1.9 and now am stuck in the Flash Screen again, going on about 30 minutes again this time.

It runs for 5 minutes or so, the screen goes off, then comes back on with the Flash Screen -

Also, I cant access the SD card here at work, so whatever I need to add to it .zip wise will have to wait till the evening.

It sounds like you have a version of CWM that only supports edify script and not amend script also. That is the reason Superwipe wouldn't work. I would suggest either flashing Amon RA 2.3(my preference) or switching to CWM 2.6.0.1. You will likely have to wipe everything again and reflash it. If you stick with your current recovery, make sure you wipe everything 2 or 3 times to make sure its a clean install.

If you switch to Amon, any nandroids you have made so far will not work. You will have to make a new one of your current set up once you get it running. If you want to switch recoveries, go here and follow the instructions there to get it flashed.

Do you have any other roms on your card?
Those roms you listed can take up to 40 minutes to boot for the first time. Ocnbrze said it took his first one 45 minutes I think.
Make sure when you wipe for flashing roms, you manually wipe each 2 to 3 times, then run the vr superwipe 1 to 2 times. It seems overkill, but its better to be absolutely clean before you start. ;)

Thanks guys, Ill try some multiple wipes and see what happens - as far as getting back to recovery that is the current challenge - Im going to let this boot screen run until 11 - and if nothing has happened I will try and get to recovery again and do several wipes.

I have 1.2 of the pyramid, but it was unstable when everything was working properly lol.. I also have another one, but I think its jacked up - it never worked very well - 1.9 was running like a champ until I got greedy lol

Okay - made it back to recovery -

Wiped cache, and data, tried to wipe dalvik cache but got the E: unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]

I think ive seen that before, but beneath that it says Dalvik Cache wipe complete... Is it complete as in successful or complete as in failed?

If you do not have your sdcard partitioned you will get that error as it can not find the sd-ext partition. It is wiped and you should be good to go.

Well I have the new recovery image on my SD, as well as a new rom to try - mikg2.45

I got these on the SD through a SD reader I dug out of a drawer.

Now I can get to Hboot, but not into recovery - It loads Hboot, says a bunch of things are missing and then I click on recovery and it just tries to boot the phone up -

Any ideas, I feel like im headed in the wrong direction.

Thanks

The recovery zip has to be named exactly PC36IMG.zip. If you are on a windows pc then by default it hides extensions so do not add it to the name. The folder icon should look like a folder with a zipper. Also, make sure the recovery zip is on the root of the sdcard(top level, not in a folder)

Alright ill try and see if the name is wrong, but ive never flashed that recovery to begin with

UDPATE -

The name was wrong, I added the .zip to the file - so it was a .zip.zip

hboot asked to update so I just did that and now waiting on the reboot. If it just sits and sits on the flash screen should I pull the battery and try to get back into recovery again?

Okay i got into hboot, it asks if i want to start the update, I say yes, it says do you want to reboot, i say yes - and nows its on the flash screen, reads "android" and light moves across it. Nothing happening

It shouldnt be trying to flash a ROM, there is no rom to flash, everything was wiped.

You told it to reboot. Pull the battery and then boot it to the bootloader again. This time tell it not to update then select recovery and let us know what happens.

bootloader-

PC36DIAG or (maybe DIMG?) is the recovery it keeps looking for but cant find.

Once it sees thats not there it says:

Parsing...[SD ZIP]
[1] RECOVERY
Do you want to start update

I say no

Cancel Update!
Do you want to reboot device

I say no

I continue to click on recovery, white HTC screen pops up..

Now it goes black, and HTC Screen pops back up..

Now it goes into the flash screen of the word "android" written across the screen and light passes across the letters - never seen that until I did the wipe earlier.

Yes the amon is what its updating to from CWM.

I was correct, it was looking for PC36DIAG.. Maybe that was the CWM? I dont know what that is.

I hit update and it says:

Parsing...[SD ZIP]
[1] RECOVERY - OK
UPDATE COMPLETE...
DO YOU WANT TO REBOOT DEVICE?

I click no.. Everything looks the same and I click RECOVERY

.. White HTC SCREEN

.. Black Screen

.. White HTC Screen

.. Phone turns off completely
