Thanks for taking the time to write a completely unproductive personal attack and reminding me why it's usually a complete waste of effort to post. I sure you are super smart but you completely missed my point.

I think my Incredible is great as is but it does have a couple of issues that I would have like to have addressed like the /data/data partition. That's NOT however why I am looking forward to replacing it in 6 months. I just like new gadgets, sorry if that offends you. If the issues were that bad I would have already switched to the Thunderbolt or Inc 2.

It was not in anyway a personal attack. I'm just pointing out the cognitive dissonance of trashing a software update for not updating the device enough in the same post you mention looking forward to the as yet largely unseen next version of android. Assuming that next leap forward will be monumentally greater than the current one is just plain silly.

And I don't care if you like buying the latest and greatest. I really couldn't care less.

For my $.02, this is quite a good update. It makes things better, not worse. You said it was "almost" a step backwards, but you didn't cite any worsened problems, just problems that existed both before and after. If you make somethings better without making anything worse, you have made the phone better, period. I haven't run into any issues with it myself nor have I heard of any large scale problems. I'd give it a A- or B+.

What is the bluetooth bug you mention above?

Jeff

In the May leak, Bluetooth audio would not automatically resume when connected to a device, such as Ford Sync. Seems to fixed in this leak, based on what I've tested now.

Is the update optional? I was thinking about waiting and rooting later on as someone mentioned. I'm guessing it IS an option...?

THIS update is purely option as it hasn't been pushed yet. When it does get pushed, it will automatically download, and will nag you every 30 minutes to install it. Best to root and be done with it now before root is broken. With the waning development community, there's no guarantee that the new update will be re-rooted in a timely manner.

Exactly, although the dev community is fairly strong, once the next batch of phones comes out at the end of the year folks are really going to start drifting away from the Dinc.

Most of you first day Dinc. owners like myself will becoming up on are re-up dates right after the Boinc and Vigor are released, I would be surprised if a whole bunch of folks don't jump around that time. I know I'm planning to.

Not the I don't love my Dinc but dual core,LTE, and a bigger prettier screen are calling my name pretty hard :)

Ya, what about those of us that want the duel core,LTE but NOT the bigger phone. It seems like the options of a phone the same size as the OIC are getting harder and harder to come by. As much as I don't want to think about the switch, I may have to start looking at the iPhone just simply because of the phone size. Even the Inc 2 is pushing the size limit for me.

The Inc 2 is perfect IMO. You can hardly notice the difference in hand..... (but we will leave that discussion to another topic)

Anyway...:)

The ONLY official word has been the PDF right? If thats the case then I'm expecting to see/hear something within a week or 2.... I think my choice for the poll is gonna be spot on:)

Wonder what i win???

I disagree with that. The XDA devs got this current one setup in a rom pretty darn fast. I don't see that changing anytime soon. There are still a some very good devs working on the Incredible.

I think it has to do with the LTE radio. It is just too big to fit in a 3.7 or 4.0 screen size. That is why all of the LTE phones have been on 4.3 screen size phones.

You're confusing ROM development with rooting. The processes, while related, are not the same. It's been 3 months since the Evo 4G got Gingerbread, and there's no official root method out for that update. Revolutionary works, but it's in "Developer preview" status. Granted, it's more than likely that the method used to root the Evo will work on the Incredible. But, if it doesn't, we're back to square one.

ROM developers can have a ROM rooted and running within a day. I've done it (see sig). It takes less than an hour to take an RUU and convert it to a stock-like ROM that works as intended with out current tools. Rooting is a completely different beast and should never be considered a given.

From Verizon's support forum:

"We understand you are eagerly anticipating the update. However, we do not have a date to supply you with, or the any details as to the reason for the delay. We do not want to raise expectations that may not be met. We hope you understand and appreciate your patience.

Basically, a whole lot of nothing.

Really? The update was just about to come out, got pulled for more "testing" and now they have no clue as to what's going on. What a pile of poop.
