Droid Charge battery life awful

I bought a Samsung Droid Charge and battery life barely last 10 hrs with Wi-Fi and GPS turned off. I have the display set at 1 minute. But I don't use the phone that much during the day. The battery usage say it is the display that has used the maximum amount of power but the brightness is set to a very minimal level. Email notifications are set to every 15 minutes. The only thing left is to turn off mobile data.

If you are comfortable with it.. set the screen brightness at about 20% or below..
Makes a major improvement... If you check the bat usage stats, most of the usage is the screen. If you live in an area where the signal is weak then you could be consuming a bunch of power with the phone hunting for signal

I keep my screen at 46% with all the auto email etc things checked and make it through the day with little problems. Imo one of the main factors of battery usage is the phone constantly searching for 4G service. Luckily i live in a 4G area so unless i am traveling far outside of that area my phone randomly ever has to search for a 4G signal. Until the 4G network is fully up and running i think a lot of 4G phones will suffer from extreme battery drain.

If you happen to notice you phone constantly bouncing between 3g and 4g your best bet may be to leave it on 3g only until it becomes more stable in your area. Also if using a different launcher make sure you cleared all the extra aps and screens from TW or your phone is using twice the battery power even when it's just sitting there.

Yeah, battery life is not great.

I started with 8-10 hours stock, but get up to 15 now on Eclipse with the EP1Q modem leak.

Try a ROM like eclipse and see if it helps.

I hate the absurdly large extended battery, but i bought the extra battery with charger. That helps as you can just hot-swap when you run out of juice and go on with your day with a fresh charge.

The battery life is just fine on the Charge. What's hurting you is the mobile data, not wifi. I use my phone at work which is connected to wifi. I only turn on mobile when I'm out n about and I need to check my work email.

I unplug my phone at 5am and when I get home around 8pm I have around 65% still left on my phone with the stock battery. My gf has the same phone and does the same thing and her battery is around the same %.

Yeah that's right. You really do have to pay strict attention to what signals are available. If you're not near a good wifi switch it off. If you are use it. Searching for non existent signals kills a battery fast. Also the way I understand it GPS is only switched on in case you need it. It doesn't run all the time.

The other big drain on the Charge is that big awesome display. If you look at it a lot it's going to drain your battery. That's something you're going to have to accept. If you really have to look at it a lot get the charging dock with the second battery or an extended one. I have the dock and I love it. When my phone is on it it becomes a nice desk clock with alarm, weather, news feed and it can be hooked up to a stereo and play music from it. If I need to go somewhere and my battery is low I just pop my second battery in.

Ten hours!? Dare to dream! Try the Thunderbolt. You're luck to get past five!

I hear that 4-6 is the norm... Hence why I traded it back in. 3 days standby time my ass. I unplug that thing from the charger @ 100% and set it on my table, by morning the phone would be dead... just sitting there doing NOTHING. LAME

I get a full day 10-12 on my DC.

I use nothing but Samsung batteries, just don't trust the after market brands. I use the Samsung extended battery. It last all day & I would consider myself a heavy user. The regular Samsung battery that came w/ the phone seem to get better the more I used it, but went w/ the extended anyway. If your Charge is fairly new just be patient the battery will get better as most people have already stated here on this form.

I see that Seidio doesn't have one yet. If they eventually do, definitely give them a shot. They aren't like all those no-name brands on eBay and such. :)

I have two of their batteries.

I don't have this phone. Just checking some things out for a friend. JD works fine on my phone, but there's a thread in this forum about issues with JD and Charge. People were saying they had to uninstall because it would not regain data connection when it was supposed to.

I use the default setting on the free version on Epic.
