Root CM7 Rom + Glitch Kernel = WOW

yes, very fast indeed, makes the rest really look old and slow

1. no nandroid, its an entirely different "file system" (MTD), RFS is gone with this, no voodoo either, make sure you disable voodoo lag fix before you do anything else

2. no more three finger boot to red recovery, it will come up but it doesn't work, so don't mess around in it, recovery is only available as a reboot option or via ADB, so if for some reason your phone won't boot you can't just boot into recovery and fix it. You will have to reboot recovery with ADB or Odin completely back to stock and re-do everything....

3. don't pull your battery while phone is on after installing this....lots of people including myself found it soft-bricks the phone, forcing you to Odin it to stock and start over which means if it happens while away from a pc with Odin and files then you're just without a phone

4. don't get crazy with the undervolting or overclocking unless you are prepared to Odin it of course, can't use SetCPU, only Voltage Control. Also grab Voodoo Control app. When you install this at first it doesn't have the market or even a way to set up your google account sync. You have to install a GApps file in recovery. Remember, not three finger recovery. The new one will be 4.0.0.5 Blue

5. pretty much that's it,

backup any files on your sd card before you start

disable voodoo lag fix, (i formatted my sd card to start clean although not necessary)

Odin one of the stock .tar packages and make sure you also have the Atlas 2.2 PIT file loaded with repartition checked the first time, boot, pulll battery.

then Odin the EC09 Modem only (not necessary but it seems to perform really well, much faster GPS lock for me)

then Odin the "cwm4_fixed_for_cm7-ODIN.tar" file (this file is ONLY for the first time you go from RFS to MTD, after you have CM7/MIUI installed you cannot install this again)

then get into recovery (should be orange or blue this time not red), flash the 07/04 version of the CM7 rom, when you tell it to flash it will "check your BML/MTD and then recovery will come back up, then tell it to install the 07/04 rom again, this time it will actually install it.

** note above, the 07/04 step may not be necessary if you are installing the 07/17 or newer version. when 07/13 first came out it would not install if you were coming from RFS to MTD for the first time but 07/04 did and you could easily go from 07/04 to 07/13, thats why i recommended doing 07/04 first

let it boot up normally, long press power, reboot->recovery, and now flash the 07/17 or 07/18 (whichever you like, 07/18 just fixed docking basically, i dont use it), reboot

reboot into recovery and install the GApps file, after you reboot you will be able to set up your gmail account and apps

after that, Voodoo Control (for voodoo color only, there is no lag fix here), Voltage Control, CPU Spy, (i personally use the Honeybread Theme for Theme Chooser), you may want to uninstall the "2.3.4 Music" app and install 3.0.1 for google cloud sync if you use it, the rest is up to you.....

plz help me for install Gapps.i have a custom rom

I really didn't understand the whole ODIN thing at first, but It really is pretty simple to use!
Just check what needs to be checked and put the right files in the right place.(PDA, PIT ....never PHONE!!) If you do these things, it pretty much does it all for you!
So use these links as reference and good luck man!!

I've been running MIUI and Glitch for months now, and I just upgraded to the latest MIUI and the latest Glitch the other night when they were released.

My battery now drains ridiculously fast. For example, I just unplugged my phone and was talking for 25 minutes with Bluetooth. My battery now has 65% juice left. Nothing else was changed.

Anyone else having this problem? Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this and/or what the problem is?

This setup is effing FAST. Way faster than the stock dual core's I've seen by far.

The display is always going to be the biggest draw of power. Too many people use those results and think there is something wrong. It is a measure of of the power used how much went where. It doesnt mean the screen is pulling too much power. The longer you go after taking it off the charger to when you check that it will be more balanced. There is nothing wrong with the phone and nothing that needs fixed. I have CM7 build 33 with the leaked v12dev Glitch and have great battery life (36-48 hours) with moderate usage.

I definitely appreciate your reply and your input, but there is definitely something wrong with my phone. I understand that the super OLED uses a ton of juice and will be one of the major draws of power, but it has never used this much IN COMPARISON to the phone (talking on the phone).

Aside from that, the fact that the battery is dead and empty after about 6 hours with about 30 mins of talk time and moderate use. This is insanely bad battery life compared to the battery life i had 3 days ago when I still had the PREVIOUS VERSION OF MIUI and the PREVIOUS VERSION OF GLITCH KERNEL.

So, there is DEFINITELY something not working right, as my phone lasted a minimum of 24 hours with the same if not A LOT MORE USE prior to the upgrades a few days ago.

*caps are for to point out importance, not yelling.

does anyone use the recommended pimp my cpu app for oc'ing/undervolting?

the built in CM cpu controls seems to keep resetting me to ondemand governor, even when I change both of them to conservative.

v12 makes your governor setting stick.

the only thing thats still bothering me is that glitch forces the softkey lights on for notifications. I dislike waking up in the morning and seeing 70% display battery usage because my softkeys were on for 8 hours while I was asleep. noLED is stupid (overrides ALL notifications), and bln control doesn't work with glitch.

any suggestions?

Voltage Control app is recommended and works very nicely! Save your settings in menu, also has save as boot option. Works great for me!
