iphone for sprint

People who have the ability to learn and understand new technology, but are unfamiliar with both iOS and Android, can learn either equally as easily. Day-to-day functions are just as easy to do with Android as is with iOS. As you become more advanced, Android will unlock further capability.

Those who are just unable to learn new technology won't be able to operate either very well. I have seen this with hundreds of returned handsets. When you sell phones for several years you learn who will return what type of phone.

The people who like the iPhone were most likely sucked in by the hype that surrounds it. This hype has for many years damaged carriers who don't carry the iPhone. Every damn report I've read about Sprint's recent stock market issues have mentioned it's lack of iPhone. This will lead to one of two things:

a.) Sprint will get the iPhone 5 and likely end up having to change it's pricing structure.

b.) The last national carrier to offer unlimited data and better pricing will be bought out or go bankrupt because they don't carry a device that is only popular because of the hype that was created 4 years ago when it was actually ahead of it's time.

People don't understand the negative control that the iPhone has over the rest of the wireless market.

a Kb of data is a Kb of data isn't it. If I use a gig of data on my evo, to get something, would it not take the same gig of data to that with an Iphone or am I missing something?? Why would a person use more data with Iphone than with evo (or any other smart phone for that matter). can it the Iphone do that much more, I think not

Just sayin'

In what areas specifically do you think Android needs to "pick up its game"?

Ok, I have an Evo and can only speak on the Evo vs the iphone4 that my friends have. ( I also have the latest ipod touch)

1. Sound quality - There is no comparison, the sound coming out of the apple products is clearer and better

2. Picture/video - Although the Evo takes good pics/vids, I can see that apple products are better. Clearer pics and smother videos. I recored a video in the highest setting on the evo and tried to play it back and it was worthless. Lost a great moment with my family too.

3. Internet connectivity/youtube playback/etc - This could be more of a sprint problem than an android problem, but I hate watching yourtube videos on my phone that dont load or buffer all the time. Go to my ipod or my friends iphone and the videos plays right thru.

Those are just a few of my issues between the iphone/android. I love the google intergration of android though, and would be hard pressed to give that up to switch to the iphone, but im not some blind fan boy who thinks android is without fault.

Oh and please dont tell me of apps that can do this or do that. I've tried plenty of them and nothing seems to work just right.

Fair enough when talking about the EVO 4G which is almost 2 years old now. All those points have been significantly improved in more recent Android models though and are actually better than the iPhone in those aspects.

It is. When it takes time to load from the SD card, when the animation glitches, when the battery dies by 3pm...when the '3D' makes you want to punch yourself in the face, when it lags pulling up an application, when it lags pulling up emails, etc.

I have Android now, and I do enjoy some features, its just not a polished/finished product.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Android has more functionality, but the iPhone performs its feature-set with unparalleled quality.

Then, there is the apps. The QUALITY of apps for iPhone are so much better...facebook, for example.

Yesterday.. riding in a car with one of my buddies...
he has the iphone4... was trying to make a call.. would not work.. had to reboot the phone..
I asked him.. whats up with your phone? he said..it sometimes just quits working...even locks up.. randomly.

but he does love is iphone4

not all products are all great..

What happens when it freezes up so bad you can't use the reboot option? Does your friend have to take his phone to the Apple store since you can't remove your battery? lolol :D

Those are more EVO 4G problems than Android problems, if you are gonna compare Android to the iPhone 4 at least compare it to the best Android phone (IMO the SGS2) which has sound quality on par with iphone 4 and better video quality. Also you can play more video codecs like DivX and xVid. And the last one is definitely a Sprint problem.

Actually, the Evo came out last June, so its really closer to 1 year than 2. I also compared it to the iphone which also came out last year. One poster said Android was 2 years ahead of the iphone4, which as i pointed out can not possibly be true. Which Androids on Sprint are better than the Evo? I've yet to see one that really made leaps and bound advancement. Not the Photon, not the Evo 3d.

That's not even a fair comparison. The SGS2 beats the living crap out of an iPhone 4 in every possible aspect! :D

I HATE that the iPhone is comng to Sprint. If you want a better phone on SPrint just get the Photon. I have it and it destroys the iPhone. Now with Google purchasing Moto Mobility you can bet your bottom dollar that Moto Phones will get preferential treatment.

You don't pay that amount of cash and NOTY give YOUR phones #1 treatment. No more Blur & Bootloader. Google will test updates on Moto phones 1st and then roll the update out to Moto phones 1st. That's why I got the Photon. It'a also one Heck of a Phone. Best I have had (had the OG EVO). The Battery life is Amazing for an Android Phone and hardly any Blur at all.

I was waiting for Sprint's version of the SGS2 and as soon as I read Google bought Moto Mobility I bought a Photon and happy I did. Sammy is not known for timely updates and the Photon is just as Fast and is a World Phone.

Sprint better not screw up our Unlimited Plans because of the DUMB iPhone. If that happens, I will just roll with the Photon until it falls apart and either geta Trac Phone or Dumb Phone. I wREFUSE to pay the Apple Tax they bring to Carriers. Apple is the Carrier Killer as far as Data Plans go.

Yeah of course. As of right now the SGS2 and EVO3D are the best phones on the market. Hands down.

Six months from now is a long time in the cell phone market and there will likely be something better released, I can't deny that. I can bet it won't be the iPhone 5 though.

I wouldn't say all that. the Photon is Sprint's BEST Phone hands down. It beats the EVO D easily.

It's all opinion on what phone is the best, but it's not opinion that android offers more interesting phones to superusers. There can't be enough said for the ability to control your own device and I couldn't imagine not being able to access my battery. That's just stupid. As for the EVO 3D the interface is buttery smooth and very fast. There are many times I'm about to show someone with an iphone something on my phone and without even trying they notice how fast my 3D is. Usually they will say something like, "man, that's fast".

OK, I'm genuinely curious about this. Many people are stating that because the iPhone 5 (and iPhone 4, by the way,) are coming to Sprint that the unlimited plans are doomed and we are all doomed to pay more for our plans?

Why is this?

Are we all expecting a flood of iPhone refugees from ATT and Verizon and new customers to burst into Sprint's network therefore causing a network overload forcing an increase in prices plus tiered plans?

Or

Are we saying that the iPhones somehow use up more data than our Android phones, somehow?

Which is it? Or is there some other reason why Sprint would change their plans because they offer the iPhone?

Does Apple require that a carrier pay more for the privilege of being able to offer the iPhone causing a "tax" to be handed down to customer, increasing the price of plans?

Please, I really want to know why people believe that Sprint will be raising prices and limiting data plans simply because the iPhone is coming to Sprint.

It's pretty simple to understand if you think about it. Right now sprint offers the best rates and the data plans are unlimited. The only reason why a large segment of iphone users aren't migrating from the rate hikes at ATT and the already high rates at VRZ is because Sprint does not have the iphone. So when this large iphone market migrates to Sprint for the unlimited data the network will become bogged down. Sprint will really have no choice, but to kill unlimited data or charge higher for it. Of course this is all contingent on the drawing power of the unlimited data package.

So to answer your question one individual device in itself is not drawing on more data as another device. Data useage is solely dependent on the users.

I dont buy the 'iPhone is locked and Android isn't' line...to do any real customization, you have to root your Android phone...which is the same as 'Jailbreaking' the iPhone.

I have seen some pretty awesome jailbroken iPhones...which btw, have way more developers per device(which results in higher quality apps/coding)...as they are all working for 1 device, as opposed to writing code for many....

I need my calendar agenda on the lockscreen and a T9 dialer, all things I have now and could get with a Jailbroken iPhone 4.

I've not yet seen a GSII phone, but I really hate AMOLED, so if the iPhone demos dont impress me next month, I'll just get the Photon.

I think some of the features I want will be incorporated to iOS 5. I will definitely enjoy the higher quality of the apps, and the better screen quality that is for sure.

We'll see, we'll see...time will tell.

What's wrong with Super Amoled? Personally I think it looks better than the iPhone 4's Retina Display when it comes too pictures, video, games, etc. and viewing angle, but not text, of course. But the Super Amoled + has crisp enough text, its not grainy like the original.

All I know is I can spot the screen door AMOLED shows from a mile away...I hate it...makes everything look nasty.

DPI, DPI, DPI.

I haven't seen a screen yet that looks better than the iPhone 4.

Yea that's definitely an original Super Amoled problem I had, but I tried to look for it on my friend's SGS2 but didn't see it, I was pretty excited!

I agree with the do Iphones use more data than Androids...I think not

If there are more and more ATT/Tmobil/whoever Iphone users flocking to sprint for unlimited data, there is more revenue more $$$$ to get more towers equipment and the like. so the system should/may/might/get better

So do you think developers and the iphone community could convince one of the phone manufacturers(oh, wait there's only one mft) for the iphone to unlock the device? Or would that community be able to convince Apple to post instructions on how to unlock an iphone? Or do you think google bought a cell phone making company to then make phones that are locked down? Maybe you see what I did here.....maybe not...

Sprint would raise prices if it gets iPhone because every other carrier's been able to do it successfully, and that user base generates a lot of income. Ironically, I don't think Sprint getting iPhone will be a boost though because Sprint would have to be in line with VZW on 3G and LTE for it to make sense to come to Sprint for iPhone.

Do iPhoners use more data? According to some reports yes. To some reports no. I think the bottomline is iPhone on another network lacking 4G would make no sense. I also hardly think Apple would have a Wimax capable iPhone now so the compelling reason for iPhoners to move to Sprint just doesn't seem to be there. Take away the prospect of "unlimited" and Sprint would gain not much in the way of subscriber base.

Not gaining subscribers wouldn't be all bad if it was a way for Sprint to begin charging more. I hate that prospect as a current subscriber, but I understand it as a stockholder.

Hmm. I wasn't aware HTC, Samsung, Motorola and the others offered instructions on how to root the phone...oh wait they don't...those companies are actively seeking ways to lock down the bootloader to stop rooting.

How is Rooting a Android device any different than Jailbreaking an iPhone?

Rooting an Android device is different than jailbreaking an iPhone.

I know because I have done both, many times.

Also HTC and Samsung do not actively seek ways to lock down the bootloader. Samsung gave a Samsung Galaxy S2 to CyanogenMod developer to encourage after-market development. HTC has a website where HTC phone owners can go to unlock the bootloader.

Apple has done no such thing, ever.

Rooting = getting super admin rights on an Android phone. Even if a bootloader is locked / encrypted, a phone may still be rooted to gain the access.

Jailbreaking is similar to rooting but yet someways still different. Jailbreak does not allow as great of freedom as rooting.
