i just checked out go contacts.. its slick, but unfortunately its got my contacts a bit messed up (the links between contacts dont seem to be there, for some at least) if thats the case im gonna be sticking with my stock contacts app, coz it took me quite a while to organize em and ensure no duplicates :D i'll check back on that n see if its easily fixable. im liking the Go style

I used Handcent before but switched to Go SMS when I changed from Desire to SGII.

For all those not using the stock messaging app how do you stop Samsung Social/stock message app always showing you have one message unread when you have read it in Go SMS etc.

No matter what I do it always shows unless I go into stock message app, then it clears. Notification are off etc.

hmm don`t know bout messing up, i had no such problems but don`t give up so easily :p this app is really worth it :)

haha yes, i think its only duplicating a few contacts i had saved on my sim. i'll delete em n give it another shot :D

back on the SMS topic, i actually tried handcent sometime back n wasnt too impressed.. again, i prefer a simple interface over a load of features. GO seems promising in that sense :D

I've had a little dabble with GO SMS and Handcent.
The jury's still out for me at the moment.
I find GO SMS a much more pleasant app to use. To me it seems to have a nicer feel, seems slightly more intuitive and less cluttered.

Hancent seems to have more features than GO SMS, mostly good ones, but can sometimes seem a little over complicated. 2 in particular Hancent has that I would like GO SMS to have is the ability to reset the SMS counter automatically by date, and having a confirmation prompt after pressing the Send key. Hancent also shows contact photos next to conversation bubbles, which is a nice touch.

However, I cant get neither of these apps to log all SMS sent and received within the app to be logged in the overall system log of the phone (ie. in Phone, Logs) I ONLY seem to get entries here when using the stock SMS app.

If either of these apps logged to the phone's logs then I would probably use it instead of stock.
If GO SMS did this, and also the features I mentioned above, I would definitely use GO SMS.

For now, I'll stick to stock unless these enhancements are done.

ive liked the stock but am disappointed how i can never seem to send or receive pics. they just sit on sending or downloading, where i dont know if its the phones sms issue or my ISP. i tried WHATSAPP, seems good pics work!, more of an iphone app crossed over as when installed, all my friends with iphones were on there, but androids i had to send an invite. of course some thought a random link to a web site was spam or some kinda scam so they ignored it! lol.
secondly its a year free trial, after that they start charging you :/

i use GO launcher theme so ill probably have a look at their sms now.

if ur ISP allows u to send/receive MMS, make sure ur data connection is active and it should work fine, ive used the stock app to send and receive pics without any issue

but yes, whatsapp is great.. and free, so if ur contacts have it, u'd wanna use that instead. lol
