I have a rooted Optimus-V and just installed Droidwall. Whitelisted all the apps I thought needed to have internet access.

When I open an app that I guess needs access, but isn't checked, my phone starts playing music at max. volume, and the volume buttons won't turn it down (until it's on mute). None of my music apps are open. Is this a "feature" of Droidwall to let you know it's blocking something? Very irritating!

edit: uninstalled Droidwall, installed Adfree... no more random music. Very odd, because I don't think the songs playing were on phone!

I also use DroidWall and I don't get sound. In fact, most of the time if an app doesn't work, it usually takes me awhile to realize it's being blocked by DroidWall. I usually check the DroidWall log to confirm and open access as required.

So no sounds for me when blocked so not sure why it's doing that on your phone. I don't think I changed any settings to tell it to go silent either.

I got random music playing whenever I got a notification. There was some sort of error with the ROM I flashed (flashed over the top of the previous version) and my phone didn't know which notification sound to play - so it just played random ones very loud. I also couldn't select or change the notification sound.

I did a reset and restored my previous ROM from nandroid - no problem.

I don't see how this could have anything to do with Droidwall, but might have something to do with instability in your system. Did you change anything after rooting? Are you using a non-stock ROM?

I don't think it was notifications (nothing in notify bar), just started playing music when I opened any app that required internet access (maybe a notification to allow it?). I decided Droidwall wasn't worth the hassle, uninstalled anjd running smoothly noiw. No custom ROMs yet, just gingerbreak root, and links2SD. Probably flashing Harmonia today.
