They don't want you to, IT'S A CONSPIRACY!

What happens when you're forced to go to a tiered plan and you don't know how much data you use? IT'S A TRAP.

Or you could go to Sprint. :p

If they go to tiered data I may just have to go to Sprint, it's almost as good as Verizon from people I've talked to, and for unlimited everything it ain't too shabby...I use WAAAAAY too much data to not have unlimited last billing cycle like 5 days in I was well over 5 gigs and no I don't tether ...though netflixing when sitting around in airports half the day tends to do that

Well, I do a lot of interneting, but no nexflizing. And I have WiFi at 90% of the places I go to.

All you people going to Costco should be coming to MY Costco. I could use the sales. lol

My OG D1 just bit the dust, so I am borrowing a phone (forwarding my Google Voice #) HOPING that the BIONIC will drop Sep. 8. Just concerned about the locked bootloader. Kinda stuck getting it though, because I have no other option. I will be so sad if I can't flash ROM's. I had so much fun and enjoyment with my D1!

Any input would be appreciated about other options YankeeDudeL, I've been on the site for a long time!

Hmm. If I buy the CostCo card now, and I give you my Debit card Num....nm.

how about if I call you on that morning, have you buy it for me doing exactly what I said above, and then have you ship it to me? (all at no cost to you, of course) :D

Yeah I watch about a movie a day, most of the airports I visit don't have free wifi and seeing as most of the concourses have power plugs I have hard feelings against using my 3g plan to cover this gap...

I do know, but things can always change.

I have a dumbphone, so I'm stuck with tiered data.

That's what I'm afraid of all of these people including myself burning through so much data that VZW feels the need to go completely tiered...that would cost me booku dollas

See I don't have a Costco card however if you really wanted the sale lemme know I'll paypal you the cash and shipping charges :D

I don't think you'll have to worry about ROMs. Many of us here are OG Droid owners, and the majority of us are flash happy ROM addicts. Knowing that the D2 and DX are running CM7, the DX2, D3, and Photon are all rooted (with the Photon even unlocking the bootloader), and with Google's purchase of Motorola, I think most of us are banking on being able to fully customize our Bionics. Still, even with a locked bootloader, you can still flash ROMs, just not custom kernels.

There extra incentive for using my upgrade? *clears throat, extends hand, rubs thumb against index finger*

i usually try to not buy from retailers, but what is the major difference between costco and a vzw local. due i still get my discount for upgrading?

The major diff is the price. You could go to VZW and pay $300 for the Bionic. Or you can walk into Costco and pay $300 for the Bionic, the desktop cradle, the car cradle, an extra battery, the battery charger, a leather carrying case, car charger, and most likely screen protectors.

Also, if you were starting a new line or new contract with Verizon, we'd take care of the $35 activation fee. Not to mention walk you through how to use and customize your phone, as to where at VZW, most associates are gonna push you out the door to get to the next customer.

But will costco have it on the 8th?

An excellent question I can't positively answer. We really won't know until that Wednesday, most likely. However, I can imagine that with the info of the bundle being leaked, and knowing that Costco has every intention on pushing this phone more than any previously, I'd confident that we will.

We change our signage, inventory, and prices every Wednesday. If it's in stock on the 7th, you can bank on us selling it that day.

See I don't have a Costco card however if you really wanted the sale lemme know I'll paypal you the cash and shipping charges :D

See my response to JG. lol

So today my boss said something unexpected. I find most channels of the company to be extremely uninformed when it comes to phone launch info. But he got off a conference call today and told me:

They mentioned the Bionic, and that it was set for September 8th (just like everyone pretty much already knows)

AND

The iPhone 5 is planned to drop in October

Not really new information by any means. Just for those who were doubting it, I think this pretty much seals it. About the Bionic at least, no clue about the iphone, but who cares!

YankeeDudeL - I think the answer is probably no, but if I have an early upgrade available through Verizon, am I able to use this at Costco? My new every 2 isn't actually available until January, but when I log in to my verizon, I can buy a new phone at 2 year pricing through my early upgrade...

Would love to be able to pick up that bundle at Costco, hopefully I can.

Sadly, no. We can only do the standard 20 month upgrade. We can't do early upgrades or any NE2's that are lying around. However, if you have a NE2, you're also eligible for a qualified upgrade, you just don't get the $50 credit (or whatever they told you you'd get). Still, we're going to be at least $50 cheaper on just about every phone, plus the accessories. And by January, who knows what'll be available. lol

I bought my droid 3 from costco, even though I had a NE2 $50 credit coming...it was still cheaper and I now have 90 days (not verizon's 14 days) to exchange for another device (bionic). that alone was worth $50 to me.

Really? Cause I'm pretty sure that the 90 days only counts towards getting the same phone again if you break it or something. Everybody has to follow Verizon's 14 day rule.

I am sure Yankee will set us straight, but this topic has been discussed ad nosieum before and I am pretty sure it was confirmed you do not need to get the same phone.

I specifically asked the question to multiple wireless advocates kiosks at different local and distant costco stores and was told the same thing every time. you have 14 days to return the phone and reverse the contract. after the 14 days you are locked into the contract but still have 90 days from the purchase date to return or exchange the phone for any different model, of course you would just pay the difference, or be refunded if it is less.

So a few weeks ago I asked the question when I was buying my droid 3. "If I buy this today and the Bionic comes out next month I can exchange it outside the 14 day window and within the 90 day window?" and was told "no problem"

I agree with you and was told the same thing. I bought the Droid Charge on June 19th so I have until September 19th or there about for the Bionic to come out.

Wow. Well, I'm going to get the Bionic anyway, cause it's such a great deal at Costco. I'd love to wait for the Prime, HD, etc, but that's just too good of a deal to pass up, and my dad wouldn't let me change afterwards anyways.
