Not at all. Like I said I haven't been this excited over an Android handset in almost 2 years :)

I've had an upgrade available since August................of 2010!

I've had my final twelve month upgrade available since July 15th, but there was nothing exciting enough for me to use said upgrade. Enter the Prime. That's exciting!

I can't wait. My WiFi is cutting in and out - and I'll be traveling in Oct, working on publishing a paper in Nov and finals in Dec.

If the bootloader doesn't get unlocked by the time the Prime is out, I'll wipe the phone, send it to my Dad, and buy the Prime using my second upgrade. if the bootloader gets unlocked before then, well, I'll root it, ROM it, then
send it to my Dad, and buy the Prime using my second upgrade.

lol.

My contract also ended the same day. The one-year contract (on the Droid X) seemed the smart thing to do considering it was only like a $100 difference.

I want something nicer than just a faster 4.3" phone. A 4.5" 720P Nexus Prime sounds worthy of a wait. My Droid X is fine and I still have enough patience left in me. ;)

True: do we really NEED quad-core 2GHz phones? I mean, it's a PHONE! In fact, dual-core 1.5GHz is pushing it as far as need goes... once you get to real time processing, there's really no reason to go any faster. But some people will buy the quad-cores just to say they have it, even though it'll take a monster 2500MaH battery to run it. And a BIG chassis to put it in. I'd much prefer the Galaxy Skin. IF it ever comes out :)
My question is, when will people learn that the processor accounts for very little battery usage? Almost nothing in comparison to the display and radios.

We do have a great forum, here. I'll give you the inside scoop on moderator stuff. We are very hesitant to ban anyone, which is why we have a point system. We try to warn people, over and over and over and over. In order to get yourself banned here, you have to do something really bad or you have to be an out and out spammer or spam bot.

Anyhoo... I'm very glad to see you here CK and everyone else, for that matter. I do have one request. Can we keep this thread more on the topic of the Nexus Prime? I'd appreciate it. Thanks for listening, caring and making this place fun to be. :D

Steven

Speaking of banned members.

Any chance you guys would unban Evan from Verizon? Maybe he could shed some light for us on the Nexus/Droid Prime. Just sayin...

:p

Samsung unveils giant Galaxy Note at IFA

A 5.3" inch screen phone with 1280 x 800 resolution and a 2,500 mAh battery?

I think that might be a stretch even for me. I don't know how you'd be able to put that in your pocket!

SO...i was hoping for a announcement on IFA Berlin for Nexus prime...but instead, samsung announced galaxy note. When should we expect some news about prime? Is there a google keynote or sth soon?

It's true that Samsung wouldn't announce the Nexus Prime, as it's a Google product. I haven't heard of Google scheduling anything, but all they would need is a few days of advance notice, if that.

CK. Do you think this will be an October release or a November release? Just curious as this is the phone I want for the next 2 years...

It's been rumored to be coming in October since BGR's original leak in June. But P3Droid, who seems to be somewhat of an insider, has been saying some time between Thanksgiving and end of December. I'd love to believe October, but I'm thinking probably November.

I like the part where you can trace something off the web and copy it into a note... but 5.3"? I think that exceeds my needs by about an inch. I use a holster anyway, but still: do you really need a phone that approaches tablet size?

EDIT: November seems a realistic launch frame for Prime, but it will all depend on when the iPhone 5 is coming. Google is going to want to pit this beast up against it. I'd love to believe October, but it's all up to Apple, I guess. Ironic, huh?

I'm not sure what to think about this. One the one hand, it makes sense for Google to push out ICS at the same time that Apple releases their latest iteration of their phone. However, will Verizon want to sell both phones at the same time? It's kind of hard for me to imagine that. Who knows.

As an aside, it appears that Apple lost an iPhone prototype in a bar, again.

Kind of hard to believe that they keep using alcoholic testers. With the news of this idiocy coming out the day after SGSII is released in the U.S., it smells like some really stupid PR move, trying to remind everyone that the iPhone is coming soon.

I think it will be a late October release. There's a lot of buzz about September and October being busy months.

But like everyone else I'm just speculating. I'm sure we will hear 3 different dates from "sources" as time progresses all of which will be wrong and then finally a date with some pretty solid info to back it up will appear :)

Rule of thumb: never trust the first few rumored release dates it will save you a lot of unneeded aggravation :)

Hey guys, just finished reading the entire thread. I have to say I'm really excited about this device coming out on Verizon. I've been tempted to switch to Sprint for the Galaxy 2 but I'll stay put for this.

I'm really hoping that it comes out in October. But like bluefire says it seems hard to imagine Verizon selling two monsters in the same month. But I hope I'm wrong.

Does anyone know if this Galaxy Note will be coming to the States at any point?

Is it just me or does October seem really unrealistic (as much as I hope it is not.) I base this on the fact we don't have very much info on Ice Cream Sandwhich as far as I know.

When gingerbread started coming on phones we already knew tons about it.

Yeah, but Gingerbread was a pretty minor update to Froyo as OSs go... ICS is a whole new animal. Likely they're working overtime to finish it early. But good point: we'll have a better idea of a release time frame when the SDK gets released. Considering that the Prime has already passed BT certification, they HAVE to be at least THAT far advanced in software development.

EDIT: BTW Welcome to the forums, HanSolo! :)

I am certainly hoping for an October release, but not counting on it. I am sure that Google will want to go head to head with Apple on releases and I could see Verizon releasing them at the same time so that they get the fanboys from each to lock in for 2 years. It would be a heck of a money maker for Verizon. And the ones in the middle, well they walk in and get to look at both and make the decision. I would think Verizon knows a lot of people are coming off of contracts with the OG Droid and they are offering that upgrade to customers early so that they can lock in people for 2 more years. I don't think it's unrealistic at all. It's really just a question of when Verizon wants to release it (Prime)

As an artist, I have to say I would totally go for this phone. It's big but I'd make it work. WOW.

Wow. That looks brilliant! 5.3" is really pushing size for phone, but it's also like mini tablet with stylus pen, HD display. I don't see it fits in pocket easily but it wouldn't be hard to carry around.

When I saw 5.3" on GT-I9220 spec leaked a few weeks back, I thought it was typo for 4.3". Looks like they just nailed it. Then probably they also got 4.65" on GT-I9250 (Prime) right. I can see some people nit picking on its screen size then. But if bezel is designed properly with software buttons on bottom, it wouldn't be problem for me.
