Beauty or the Beast

FAB, I know your a fan of the wifi tethering, I just installed Beast last night and I looooove it, but while I do have the wifi toggle, it doesn't work. I can turn it on, but it shows 0 up and downstream, and none of my wifi device can see it's connection.

I have had no luck using applying roms by the update method, so I ran the nandroid backup. I did NOT however restore to every folder, only the default checked ones (instructions did not spec doing anything above and beyond). The ROM runs flawlessly and fast, only exception is that I get a force close on handcent and some other app that I can't remember immediately after bootup. Another thing that I think is odd is that during bootup, even though I am running beast, I still get the beauty animation. Have any idea what my issue might be? Should I just re-restore the backup, this time being sure to check every folder, or can I just restore the non-default folders and avoid killing all my work as far as app installations go?

Thanks.

You can even get tricky with it and use the nandroid backup to install. Then, use the 'advanced restore' option in SPRecovery and recover only the DATA partition of your old BB ROM to get back all your apps and settings.

How exactly do you do this? Is it a advanced backup of data, then to the nandroid restore of the new ROM, and then an advanced restore of data?

I have been using the update.zip method, its worked great for me. But I used the one with 800 MHz and wifi. I heard the latest one is glitchy
I will say this...I had beast installed with nandroid backup...the used update.zip to go to beauty...went back to beast with update.zip and I am having some weird stuff going on for example

-press home button and load an empty homescreen (had this problem with open home)

-press lock when in music app and press lock button to unlock and no lock screen just the music app until i hit home button in which i get a glitchey lock screen

So in retrospect when i get home from work i am going to do a fullwipe and install using nandroid backup :) Beast i like the most especially since now you can throttle the cpu up and down :) My phone gets pretty warm at 800 mHz and so I will throttle down to 550 from time to time.

I should point out that I've successfully installed both the 800mhz and 950mhz versions of beast 0.7.2 with the 99.1b recovery image. I don't recommend doing this, to be clear. However, this image is the version that Droid Root Helper provides as an easy installation, so I tried it out without flashing the new one and it worked just fine.
