[How-To] Force 2/2/2010 OTA Update

Many thanks for this, took me 5 mins this morning and now I've got lots of lovely multi-touch goodness on my N1 and it's super smoother!

I will read up on the other minor updates tonight.

I am hoping the 3G tweaks will much improve my battery as my house is right on the tipping balance between a 2G and 3G towers and it's forever switching.

Ok that didnt work... Could someone explain to me the what the locked bootloader is... Cuz I thought all the nexus ones were unlocked...

Android N00b here...

Thanks in advance...

All Nexus come with a locked bootloader and if you wish to unlock it can be done very easily. This will void your warranty and not all people want to play with custom ROMs or lose their waranty

I have a rooted Nexus One that I had applied the pinch to zoom hack when it became available a few weeks back.

I keep getting this error when attempting to force apply yesterdays update.

Can anyone help please!

It's got something to do with the keys, Amon_RA's recovery doesn't use the "release" key the update does.

Go over here and get the one you want (root/ non root/ highmem or not)
02/Feb ERE27 - Full new update in main update zip, radio update zip, insecure boot image and superboot image - Android @ MoDaCo

=> only if you have a modified recovery!
don't forget to flash the radio :)

Did the manual update this morning with the instructions provided. 5 minutes job. Battery life seems to be better. Browser multi-touch not so good as it doesn't automatically fit to the screen. Will stick to Dolphin for browsing. Pictures take longer to load. Not much of a difference for 3G connectivity.

So if I wait till I get the OTA update from the cloud will I still have this error?

I'm not 100% sure but I think you will since the keys are different it won't accept the update. All has to do with this 'signing' stuff ;)

You can restore your original boot image or just wait till Cyanogen releases it's new ROM.
But if I was you I would just pick one from modaco. It's the same as the original update but he changed the 'keys'.

I gave up waiting and followed the procedure. The only difficulty I had was in selecting "Recovery" -- I kept thinking I could navigate to it with the track ball, but instead it was the volume key I should have been pressing.

If this isn't already in the instructions -- i.e. if I was too sleepy to notice it -- would you consider adding it in?
