Dont know if it been posted but Amon Ra's rcovery is now available in RM under alternate recovery. just flash or reflash the newest CWR back out and go back in and the alternate recovery tab thats usually grayed out it highlighted. flash and enjoy. i just did this myself and havent had time to check it out.just thought id pass the info. Im not the first to discover this just seen it on another site and wanted to share i take NO credit what so ever! If u had a G1 back in the day then u know of Amon Ra.

Nice find, it seems odd that there isn't a zip out there for it (that I can find at least) and no credit has been given to the porter.

Im not sure who ported it, im thinkn maybe Kush or the man himself Amon seeing as its only in Rom Manager as of now. is it possible to pull it from RM and make it a .zip for everyone to just download and use? with permission from Amon Ra or Kush of course.

Well so far so good ive made a backup already and its pretty straight forward and user friendly. Its pretty fast compared to CWR in backing up so far that ive noticed and it gives you the options for what u would like to backup. Your previous backups from CWR wont work so if u decide to use it your goin to have to make new ones but theyll still b on ur sdcard so u can go back to CWR if ud like and theyll b there. Ok ive noticed u will have to toggle the Signature Verification off in order to install zips from sd or it will keep telln you that the verification failed and will abort it threw me off. other than that i like it very much it is way faster at flashing and backup/restore than CWR imo.

I wouldn't think that the dev would care if it were made a flashable zip if it is available in ROM manager, just seems odd that there would be no XDA or Rootz posts by the Dev when I recall people asking for it before at XDA

I assume scotty is torn between the evils of rom manager and the draw of Amon RA :p

I think it will be hard for me to go away from TWRP currenty. Does Amon RA have anything to offer that TWRP doesn't (or CWM for that matter)?

not really. as much as ive wanted Amon as an option, ill prolly stick with twrp myself. emo horse and touch scrolling are pretty hard to beat. plus ive become pretty accustomed to the capacitive button interactions.

mmkay so yesterday i was screwing with my phone and was unable to restore either of the 2 backups i made with Amon  made me pretty angry since there were a couple of texts i dint want to lose and a number in the call log id need to write down before starting on a fresh new rom or old backup.

i tried restoring with wiping, restoring without wiping,no matter how i tried to go about restoring,it hung at the splash screen. my sd card reader broke,so i had to put the sd in my eris to change rename the twrp PG05IMG and flash that. twrp restored a backup just fine,so thinking maybe the prollem was with the image i pulled to make the hboot flashable zip,i installed rom manager:)eek:) installed clockwork, installed amon, then booted back to recovery again.

no dice- still no restore,no matter how i tried it. so i restored my most recent backup one last time, then flashed a rom overtop of it with no wipes. this time it booted and there was my data. yay! :D

i asked on the thread about restore issues, but so far no one has answered.

just a heads up to folks using it... if you got stuff youre attached to,id make a "just in case" backup with clockwork or twrp ;)

update: the dev that ported it has requested a recovery.log, wich i will get for him later today. off to work now :(

I'm glad this recovery came out for your Scotty, not because I want to use it but because you can now tinker with something. Why haven't you dabbled in development yet?

shhh! between you and i thats the main reason ive been running it. while i do feel its worthwhile to have, and nothing wrong with its use,ive just enjoyed getting the dev his logs and helping him figure out what was going on with it. i couldnt stay way from emo horse for too long :p

as for development,i dunno. thats a good question... maybe someday :)

edit:
i just made a backup of shiftao5p,wiped and restored rooted mr2. wiped again and restored shiftao5p. no splash hangs, and no issues

3.04 seems to be working fine :)

"fail to start" is when it hangs at the splash screen. i.e.,fails to start ;)

it doesnt bother me to not be able to restore backups, either. they arent really "lost" its esay enuff to reinstall clockwork if you need to get at them. but for some folks its a big concern. if youre new to rooting and roming i could see it being a bit unnerving.

well its working just fine. ive restored more backups in the lash couple hours than i could shake a stick at  good thing i got so many :D

is clockwork 5.0.2.1 restoring older clockwork backups? if not thats a good reason to switch to this... i restored the first backup i ever made,on my TB,lol. as well as a new one i made with 5.0.2.1,and a bunch of them in between.

after the restoring dust settled i used it to flash DTs nonsense rom,and that worked just fine as well.

if it would restore twrp backups,it would be an awsome rescue recovery,as it would restore any backup you made with any recovery, ever. then all it would need is more capacitive button support, touch scrolling, and an emo something(maybe an emo cow, lol) and it would be perfect :p
