Went to Best Buy last week to get my wife an Evo 4G. She was set for her full discount from Sprint as here contract was up and I saw the Evo in the Sunday Ad for $99.00. Went in and saw that they had white which she preferred. Took the Rep some time to get everything setup and then she hosed the Blackberry when she was trying to transfer data. She ended up charging us $1.00 which is/was the cost of the Evo if you signed up for a Family Plan. When we got home and I setup here email, her Exchange Server Outlook system had all her contacts already saved so they transferred right into the Evo. She really only lost her previous text messages!
I've seen some "Mint" condition EVO 4G's around here for $180-200. I saw a couple in "used" condition for 150-165 but they did have some visible wear. If you can find one in exceptional condition for 175 or so, why not go that route? No 2-year contract... Sell it for a little less than you paid for it in 6 months and get something new...
Just bought my White Evo from Best Buy for $1. I switched from Verizon. Hard to beat the unlimited everything for $69 when big red is about to roll out tiered data.

I jumped from VZW (after 10 years) this week myself. Dumped my beloved Droid X and got my new beloved Evo 4G. Got the Evo for free. Did the Gingerbread update then did factory reset and it's doing fine. Monthly cost is going to be a lot better with Sprint.
Radio Shack has the EVO for free on new or 2 year upgrades. Most retails with price matching options should be able to honor that deal. Got mine from Best Buy for $1 (they refuse to give it for free...go figure).
