Hi ya'll.
I didn't create any of this.... I just took pieces from a few different places and repackaged it in an easy to use format.
Hope this helps!
What you'll need:
1) a USB cord
2) These files. Nexus One Tether Files.zip One Tether Files.zip
You NEED to extract them IN THE C:\ DRIVE (so the files should be in C:\NexusTether ) IT WILL NOT WORK IF NOT PLACED HERE (if you want it elsewhere, all you need to do is edit nexustether.bat to reflect the change. )
3) Proxoid Installed on your phone
4) an easy proxy solution for your browser ( i use Proxy Switchy! for Chrome. Works great.
Ok---let's start on your phone. Make sure you have Proxoid installed.
p1) No, go into your phone settings (home>menu key>settings) click on 'applications', and then 'development' and make sure 'USB Debugging' is checked.
Now let's set up your browser. If you have installed Proxy Switchy!, then
b1) click on the Proxy Switchy! icon in the Chrome toolbar (a blue or gray globe)
b2) choose 'options'
b3) name your profile (I called mine 'nexus one'), choose 'manual configuration', check "use the same proxy server for all....", and type "localhost" (without parenthesis) in the "http proxy" box and "8080" for port.
b4) click 'save'
Now we need to install the USB drivers for your phone. This is assuming you are running Windows 7. Vista and XP should be similar.
c1) click the start button, right click on 'computer', and go to 'properties'
c2) select 'device manager'
c3) you should have a 'nexus one' listed there, without drivers (probably a yellow error thing next to the icon)
c4) right click on 'nexus one' and choose "update driver software" or something like that
c5) select "browse my computer for driver software"
c6) point it to the folder you downloaded (should be C:\nexustether if you did it right. If not, time to fix it!) Make sure 'include subdirectories' is included
c7) click 'finish' or whatever. it should find the driver, and install it. this took a few minutes to finish on my computer.
Final step:
f1) go to C:\nexustether, and select 'nexustether.bat'. Copy this file to your desktop (for easy launching). Or you can create a shortcut. Whatever. Both work.
f2) Restart your computer.
Ok--that's it! i know it was a pain, but you only have to do it once.
To Use NexusTether
1) connect your phone to your computer w/ USB cable
2) click on the 'nexustether.bat' that you saved to your computer. It should tell you 'tunnel started' or something like that. If not, ummm....something got messed up.
3) on your phone, launch 'proxoid' and click 'start'
4) click on the Proxy Switchy! globe in your Chrome bar in the upper right hand. select 'nexus one' or whatever you called your profile.
That's it---good to go!
