OK I waited until notification light turned green, turned phone off and then plugged it back in. Got the green light again. But wait, there's more to the story. I turned my phone back on and went to fastboot or whatever it is called. Turned it off and plugged phone back in, Got red notification light on again. It has been on for about 15 mins now and I suspect it will stay on for the usual 30 mins or so. I guess this is because fastboot does not actually turn the phone off. rather it puts it to sleep.

How do I disable fast boot?

Does anyone have any information from Verizon support about the possibility of a halt to the rollout to fix the obvious problems with this upgrade? FWIW my wife and I are both still waiting as well. We both got our phones the day they were released.

Updates are not rolled out on a first bought, first served basis.

The Froyo update took at least a couple of weeks to complete, so you will get it when your phones make The List.

Why are people so panicky about this? It isn't a major update at all and won't give your phone the ability to fend off dingoes or knife wielding lobsters.

(That doesn't come along until ICS)

Not a big deal, I was just curious. I'm surprised they're continuing when they know there is a problem with the update. Maybe it's just easier to patch it after the fact.

No panicking here. Just would like to have some better battery life.

I just got an Iconia so maybe it will save me from using the incredible so much.

There are problems with any software. If they waited to release until it was flawless it would never come out. and the bugs that have been found are minor. The sd card apps bug is an undocumented feature (puting the apps on the 6.5gb internal storage instead). They just need to put out guidance that users should move the apps to the phone before the update (our uninstall them) and them back on the"sd card" after.
The market issue it's just embarrassing for the devs, but would be incredibly easy to fix (just change 1 text file (and until that's fixed, is the inability to get verizon apps on the market really a problem). They would not pull the update for that.

Please, let ME decide what is important to me. I consider the vast number of changes to be an improvement, and I am excited about the changes. I can assure you that the number of posts about people getting the update is greater than those complaining about not getting it.

I currently run a gingerbread rom. What features do you include in the vast number of changes that are important to you?

I am curious.

I am running GB as well and it is the same phone with some minor look and feel updates. Battery life is no better for me either.

If folks want to get wrapped around the axle because they were not first in line to get the update, that's cool.

I'm sure many of the folks here would find some of the things that excite you to be ridiculous as well. Thankfully they're not making their opinion known here.

While I appreciated the opposite sketches on You can't Do That On Television, I'm not sure there was ever an episode where cool meant ridiculous.

I got my phone on release day and the hexidecimal numbes under the back cover appear to be nuclear launch codes. If I don't get my update soon, I may have to try them.

Update: I was able to go to .3 by following the steps listed in post number 14 from this XDA page (although it went straight to the update.zip file instead of re-installing the leaked RUU first):

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257503&page=2

Ok, I have searched several other forums, but still can't figure-out how to get to the latest version 4.06.605.3, so I am soliciting ideas

Here are the things I've done so far:

1. Purchased my DINC in Feb 2011; already had 2.2 installed.
2. Installed the 4.06.605.2 leak from this website:
HTC Incredible Official 2.3 Gingerbread Update Leaked [Download] | Android Community
3. Tried to install the latest version from this website:
OTA Gingerbread! - Android Forums
4. Could not get HBOOT to load file "update.zip" so I renamed it to "PB31IMG.zip" as with the instructions in step 2. This resulted in just returning to HBOOT screen after "Checking PB31IMG" message

BTW, I tried both the 605.2 to 605.3 file:
http://android.clients.google.com/p..._WWE_4.06.605.3-4.06.605.2_release_211679.zip
and the 605.1 to 605.3 file:
