Root Explicit GummyCharged How-to please

Hi there, first off I'd like to say congrats on the Droid Charge. It's definitely a great phone. I have one as well and I've been trying to install Gummy Charged for days but I just can't figure it out. If there was any way for you to post a detailed guide on how you did it, myself and I'm sure many others would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much!

Thanks for the info. I've been hearing that voodoo lag fix tends to interfere with the clockwork mod and it's better to disable it. Not sure how much truth there is to that statement but i'm still afraid to mess with them both. This is also my first android phone. Atm I have voodoo lag and gingerbread installed but it isn't quite as bug free as I would like it to be. I'm missing calls and my lockscreen has stopped working. Gonna reflash and and try out one of the guides you had posted. I'll update when I'm done.

So I went ahead and installed Gummy Charged and it runs like butter. 0 lag, and haven't had any bugs so far. The rom is beautiful. Here's the steps that I took.
1. Used Odin to Flash down to ED01 Stock.
2. Rooted the phone using Gingersnap
3. installed ROM manager
4. Installed clockwork mod via odin with this link
0817_charge_recovery.tar.md5
5. Then downloaded this version of Gummy Charged and put it into my microSD card.
[ROM][EP1Q][ODIN - CWM]GummyCharged GBE 1.9RC2 8/17/11
(the RC2)
6. Booted into Clockwork, then followed the instructions for install on that last link.

Hope that helps. Those are the exact steps I followed. Prolly will work for you as well, but I can't take any responsibility if it doesn't. Gluck!

The pda button is a button inside Odin (windows based program).

I knew it... I had seen that but I thought for some reason that one of the hard buttons on the bottom of the phone was also being referred to as the PDA button.

Didn't have any of this to think about with my OG Droid I just LOVES new stuffs!

Ok, here are the steps in more detail for what you have listed above.

1. ED01.. go to this youtube link and follow the guide Droid Charge Gingerbread Rooting Tether Netflix by KDtech.org - YouTube
using the Odin v1.3 and the Original root file. Don't use the Gingerbread rom that he mentions in the video, it sucks.

2. Once you have flashed to the original root (ED01). You will now be able to root using the Gingersnap utility..

use that link and follow the guide up until it starts talking about DSCharge.ZIP. You don't need that.
Register for the right and do everything he says, you'll need the links that he provides.

3. Now that you are rooted, you need to install Rom Manager from the Android Market. Open up ROM manager and touch the first option that says Flash Clockwork Mod or something along those lines, choose your device and let it flash.
(this is just a precautionary step, not sure if it adds anything to the process but I did it and my phone is working fine now)

4. Next you wanna flash using Odin again. This time we are flashing the Clockwork recover 087 mod. The file can be downloaded here

and you will do the same thing that you did when you installed the ED01 original root.

5. After that is flashed download the Gummy Charged RC2 (zip file) from here
[ROM][EP1Q][ODIN - CWM]GummyCharged GBE 1.9RC2 8/17/11 - xda-developers
(it will be called GummyCharged GBE 1.9RC2.3 CWM <-- dont' click that)

6. Put that gummy charged file on your SD card. Boot into clockwork recovery mod using ROM manager. and then follow the directions on the link where you downloaded Gummy Charged.

Hope this helps. and once again if something happens to your phone I can't take responsibility. Those are the exact steps that I had followed though and my phone is working great!

I got my charge yesterday and flashed GummyCharged GBE 1.9RC2.3 with PeanutButta Jelly Time kernel that includes the voodoo lag fix. I used Charge Kit version 2 to get CWM installed via Odin. It also includes Samsung Drivers and stock roms. In the kit there is a readme that explains how to use Odin to flash CWM and a Kernel. I did not use the voodoo fix kernel that is in the kit...I opted to use PeanutButta Jelly Time and didnt flash it until after i flashed GummyCharged FE 1.9. You will see it in my steps below.

The one issue I ran into is that I did not have the voodoo lag fix working correctly before installing EP1Q radio. I ended up having to flash back to the stock froyo rom and then start over because I was in a bootloop. So before you install the radio verify that voodoo is enabled either in Terminal or voodoo control app. Also make sure you whipe data when your flashing GummyCharged GBE 1.9RC2.3 in CWM.

I followed these steps but added a step to flash Peanut Butta Jelly Time: How to get on GummyCharged GBE 1.9RC2.3 with lagfix/EXT4 - xda-developers

1. Download GummyCharged FE 1.9.1 full Odin (yes the froyo version) and flash that via Odin
2. Flash PeanutButta Jelly Time kernel via Odin
3. Ensure lagfix is enabled via voodoo controls or term (if it is not use voodoo control to enable lagfix)
4. Download the EP1Q radio's and flash them via Odin
5. Download GummyCharged GBE 1.9RC2.3 and install it via CWM (make sure you wipe data)

That is what worked for me and im loving GummyCharged GBE.

I really appreciate you guys adding all of this stuff in your posts, I just got the Droid Charge phone today. Seriously, though, I know NOTHING about 'rooting' a phone and what not. All I want to do is take my Droid Charge from its 'just bought it brand new' stock state to the latest and greatest that is possible for this phone. Any links to an UPDATED, CLEAR, CONCISE tutorial that accomplishes this? Going to this site to flash this, and going to that site to install that, is not going to cut it for me.
