Root [ROM][WIP] CyanogenMod 7 | Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) | Current Version: 09122011

I'll try formatting the sdcard tonight. I tried the beta because it's always worked well for me in the past. Had issues with 2.7.5.2 a few months ago. But I trust you guys' judgment so I'm giving it another shot

I'm just throwing it out there as a last resort. At the very least, it will tell you if your card went bad. At best, you'll reformat your card, start everything clean from scratch, and get yourself a clean, working flash.

Quick question... I've noticed a few people saying that they don't use TIBU anymore.. So what do you guys use to restore apps?? Do you just restore the sd-ext to get your apps back??

When restoring a nandroid back up yes. If I flash a new build, like say I just went from BobZ's 729mhz build which I made a back up for and went to PG's new 0912 build which I just made a back up for, I start over from complete scratch. I flash everything and then jump on the Market on the comp and just go down the line of installing all the apps I had before. Which with the new Market goes fast. Everytime Ive used a backup/restore app I always ran into problems some where.

Really? This is the first time ever, my swap actually activated on boot. Ive always had to run the TE commands to activate it. Wonder why it isnt working for you.

I figured it out, my bad. I formatted my SD card a while back and forgot to recreate the EXT4 partition. Now it runs perfect.

On a side note, it's nice to have the lights back. I almost forgot about them completely!

^^ I totally agree. Thanks to all the devs and all others who have helped our in one way or another. I check this forum more than I check my email. And messing around with android in general has me wanting to get back into coding (I was a java developer for the military 10 years ago) As we speak I'm downloading training and tutorials. Let me knock off the cobwebs and get this brain back in action!! I feel like I have purpose again...

Is that safe to do when going to a new build? Or should i do as ShinySide says and redownload everything for a new build?

yes

That's all you do? Advanced restore > restore file > restore data? And you get all your apps back? Do you get the user data as well?

(Actually, I'm gonna reflash and see for myself.) :)

yes

just downloaded the new rom, AWSOME as always. i flash the Metroff, & now the Roaming Indicator Off is showing. i flashed it 3x no go. is that the correct one to load? or am i missing something?

the v1.3 might need to be compile for the new versions, i will have to look into it or pg...;)

The new build replaced it. PG probably did that because the new ones are pretty much an update of it. I have the rom and gapps. I can post them in a bit if you want them.
This would be correct, I linked the 0613 gapps back because the 724 ones were not listed anywhere else n ppl were having issues with em. Soon as the newest gapps are reported working well I will link those. And all gapp versions can be found on goo-inside-me for those who want the newest of a later version.

Makes sense... I wanted to make a backup of each build just in case. Not sure if any use will come of them, but I might just dig in and learn a thing or two. ;)

gapps-gb-20110828-signed 7.2.zip

^^^ The new 0828 gapps work like a charm. Well these do, I had to go into META-INF/com/google/android/ in the gapps and swapped out the update-binary file for the one thats in 7.2 in the same location or else I would get a error code when trying to flash them, Thats how I got them to work with BobZ's 0708 build too.

never had to flash dta2sd with my builds ;) and with the gui no you dont have to use terminal anymore ;)

You mean on the dropdown notification? I can fix that too. I added the eri.xml back to the metroff to fix the banner issue on the Optimus C/M. But I can edit it some so nadda shows. ;)

Playfulgod I found something very interesting, maybe some other members can confirm it, well I hated the indicator roaming off notification that was in the status bar, so I only flash the 09/12 build and the gaps, and then I tried and the picture messaging worked and it doesn't show the indicator roaming off notification, it will if I install the metrooff fix, but I don't need it, maybe some other members with metro can confirm if you fix it in your build or maybe is and amazing glitch in my phone???

what I was trying to say is that I now received pictures without intalling the metro off fix, but doesn't send pictures, I wanted to let you guys know, because before the 09/12/2011 didn't even received or send pictures without installing the metro off fix, now in the 09/12 build does receive pictures but doesn't send them.
I'm just informing of what I found out if you didn't know.
all I did to take off the roaming indicator off, was delete the eri.xml from the zip

Toke, This is the link he posted above and it's also the one everyone uses for reference. CM7-Ascend - Prepaid Android This is a prepaid android wiki site. There is another site listed for more info too. CyanogenMod | Android Community Rom based on Gingerbread [Compliments of Isaacj87 and anyone else who is involved.]

What works?

Bluetooth
Wifi
GPS (see notes)
Sound
Accelerometer
Hardware keys
Trackball
Touchscreen
Lights
Apps2sd
Radio
Data services
Basic USB functionality

What doesn't?

Camera
USB mounting
Certain apps will take down the system (see notes)

Notes

Certain apps will take down the system (major slow-down). While the GPS works, Maps will cause instability. Camera has the same effect. In order to undo this, simply lock the screen and unlock it. CM7 should return to normal. I'm not sure the cause of this, but it's a top priority for me.

Angry birds doesn't install correctly. After it's installed from the Market, go into Applications
