Accessories Screen Protector Reviews. Zagg vs Phantom vs Stealth.

Awesome first post, masand. Sounds like you may have an axe to grind. Swing by the introductions thread and introduce yourself.

I commented in the other thread as well, but will reiterate what I said there. I'm currently using Zagg and can do without the overly-rubbery feel and am looking forward to trying out StealthGuard.

The best install tip I can give to anyone trying this type of protector is to plug your phone into USB or Power after you have all the pieces lined up. The heat generated by the charging process really helps these things cure and dry quickly.

Only have experience with BSE as I've used it on old some other devices that I have so I also ordered it for my droid.

Had it on for about 1month now and still seems to be working great. No peeling or lint(yet), only have the screen protector and the back portion of the phone covered as the front corners were too flimsy and tricky to put on. At first, it feels pretty grippy but after about the 1st week it now feels as it normally did.

Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for alternative to ZAGG or other shield brands

Tried Zagg, however the protector is very flimsy and actually stretched slightly during installation using the tool provided, making it useless.

Not recommended, and I agree is feels very rubbery.

But then again I have very little luck with screen protectors and think there a bit of a scam, I've never successfully installed one first time and you kind of need to get these right first time, you mess round with them and you end up with debris stuck on there and then you might as well bin them.

Well I had BB install the ZAGG. perfect.! Im in the commercial construction industry(flooring)and my phone comes home every day dirty, dusty and just plain old messy. i hit the protector with a wet tissue and wipe it down. it looks almost as good as day one as does the phone.

for that. id say it gets a 5 out of 5.

i just got my Stealth Guard they just look like standard 3M film cutouts (they even have the 3M watermarking). Is this correct?

I recently received my stealth guard for my dinc and they fit fine, but I do believe I am experiencing what you refer to here with the watermarking? correct me if I am wrong.

After installing the shield on my screen I noticed a sparkly, almost glittery look to the screen when put in direct light  No bubbles, but there are also a few marks from where I was using a credit card to simply squeeze bubbles out; for example faint lines running across the screen where I stopped the credit card each time.

I'll be making my decision once I am in sunlight and get used to it. If not I'm getting rid of it...no worries since it was only $2.85 anyways :)

I have used on Droid X, Palm Pre Plus(Face only), Droid Incredible(Face only) and Droid 2. Every Smart Phone in my family. Elected not to put on soft touch surfaces of Palm Pre Charging back and the DInc battery cover, only glossy panels. I did waste 2 sets with trial and error, so get a spare set and once applied, let them cure a few days. The result was surprising because they look crappy with white milky bubbles at first and they slowly but surely go to invisible over time. I work in EMS and use my Droid X in rough environments all the time and found them to be quite durable. Over all, I found them to be a very durable, great looking product at a price that can't be beat. I just had to be patient.....

1. Price is best, free w/ shipping being $2-3. Beats all the competition.
2. No problems with panels fitting.
3. Do have to use a blade of sort, like Xacto knife or scalpel, to separate the the skin from cut outs.
3. Do have to use 1 drop soap to 10oz water solution in a spray bottle to apply properly.
4. There WILL be bubbles at first, lasting 1-5days in some cases. But one day it just suddenly looks great, no bubbles. Cured I guess.
5. Good feel, with very mild rubbery feel.
6. Protected from scratches and gouges and scuffs. Healed self after in a day.
7. Website is OK to good.
8. Packaging is plain white, cheap. Does not match the actual product.

HINTS:

1. Follow the directions on the site.
2. Watch the videos!
3. Be patient! Bubbles look bad for a few days but it WILL suddenly look great by day 3 or 4.

have any of you guys tried having the Stealth Guards shipped outside of the US?

Im currently based in Vietnam and worry that the $2.85 shipping fee is not enough for it to reach me.

I tried their shipping calculator, but it gave me the same $2.85 shipping fee.

oh, and another thing, how about that "high gloss" finish or that "black carbon fiber" add-on? are they any good?

thanks

Twelve thumbs up for the Steinheil Crystal... which, checking their site, they don't appear to sell anymore for the OG Droid.

First off, it's been pretty well invisible with a nice slick feel for the last year or so.

Secondly, and this is why I'm posting this, the phone fell down between the powered seat and center console of a Benz, and getting it out required moving the powered seat - it ended up exacting a similar motion to the screen as that of a can opener (with a sharp metal edge of the seat's assembly).

It literally ground a 2" groove into the screen protector, but the screen itself is fine. So happy. And kind of sad that I can't just buy another of the same thing.

Has anyone tried Expert Shield on a Droid? I used them on my Tilt and they were great, I have one on order now, though they're in Japan I believe and take forever to get here.

Hi Markc2 - Did you receive your Expert Shield order in good time? We've now set up a UK base, so it's a bit faster shipping to the US :)

I've been reading with great interest the reviews on "Stealth guard findings". What I found interesting is the claims about how the website looked unprofessional and the shipping was "crap". I personally am not sure that we are all on the same page. The very first review called them "Stealth Guards". In fact the real name if you wanted to google it is "Stealth Shieldz". It's a small point but when I tried to google the first name I got to a really shoddy looking website that I would never order from. "Stealth Shieldz" (parent company Prestige Solutions) and I think what "blackops" was referring to is located at Xtreme Guard Screen Protectors
I have their full body protectors on both my LG G2x and my HTC Sensation 4g and they are exquisite. The install is fairly easy if you use a drop of soap in a large bowl of water, they are cut perfectly to each phone, when they completly set up in a day or two they are bubble free and crystal clear. They were shipped to me each time in a very inexpesive but clearly marked color packaging stating "Stealth Shieldz" "2 pack premium protection", which was my first clue that we weren't all talking about the same companies.
It really doesn't matter to me what folks use on their phones but I thought it was important to give out correct information. I've been very pleased with the results I've gotten and would highly recommend these protectors to anyone. They really are the very best I've ever used and like "blackops" I've used pretty much all of them. Have a great evening guys, hoped this was helpful.......

I got a Zagg full body protection for my desire on friday and i am not impressed. It took me forever to install, I still have tiny bubbles all over the phone after spending literally an entire weekend using the squeegee card on it. Also that very night i had my phone and keys in the same pocket, and i now have massive scratches in the shield! The website is rediculous, have tried to register the product at least 5 times. Finally managed to try and sort out my free lifetime replacement, only to find out i have to pay for postage and packaging AND the cost to send the old screen protector back. If i dont return the old screen within 60 days, they will charge me for the full product. Never using Zagg again

It says in the Zagg instructions that came with my screen protector to not use the device for 12-24 hours after application. That lets the protector firm up and re-harden, as it gets soft in the application process. Did your instructions not say this or are you one of the big drtfm'ers "don't rtfm -ers" (like me). :)
