LG Revolution & HTC Thunderbolt

Hi,

I'm new to the LG Revolution Forum.

My wife has a LG Revolution and I have the Thunderbolt. When she first got her phone she could not hold a 4G signal and the phone was getting pretty hot when plugged in. Then I did a factory reset and that solved the problem for both issues. It took me a while to decide which phone to go with.... The TB, Droid Charge or the Revolution so after looking at comparisons, reviews, etc.. I opted for the TB.

I was able to use 4G at first and using mobile hotspot was great (just as fast as Comcast) but then I noticed the very next day that my TB would stay at 3G and using the hotpspot became more of an issue. Either my computer would barely retrieve a website or not retrieve it at all. This became very frustrating so I'm using my wife's LG as a hotspot and is working very, very well. I have automatic selected and CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto is enabled using the LTE switch app. We are in the same house of course and her's shows 4G all day and my TB is always in 3G mode.

Last night we were at an event and one of the guys that was recording the event wanted to stream it over the internet but the internet connection there was very slow and spotty. So I told him to sign on and use my hotspot which did show 4G. When he signed on the TB switched to 3G and knocked him off 3xs and when he was on it was a very slow connection. So I had him sign on to my wife's LG and he was up and running the entire night streaming like crazy in 4G and while my wife was even on a conference call.

Now she's trying to get me to switch to the Revolution and I have to say after really playing with her's all day today and comparing; I have made up my mind that I am going back to Verizon and switch to the Revolution on Monday. I still have a few days left before my 14 day return policy is up. I have to pay $35.00 for the switch but it will be well worth it. I'm really getting use to the way the Rev's OS operates and the fact that it runs very smoothly. I still like the TB and it's a good phone (other than the 4G issue and also I have to re-pair my bluetooth each time I turn my earpiece on) but I just think Rev. has a little more to offer.

If I had to pick between these two, sad to say because I usually love HTC, the LG Revo is better than the TB. If you throw the Droid Charge in the mix, I am running to the Samsung Droid Charge every time... It is better IMO than the LG Revo on most points that are important to me. The LG Revo is hands down better than the TB, but the battery life is close to TB maddening. You can throttle back everything and try to conserve, but in a 4G/LTE area, forget about it, that is what drove me back to the Droid Charge. LG Revo, very snappy, TB pulls data faster in my testing against the LG Revo, but the DC took them both head to head, same store and when I had the phones in the wild at the same locations in Seattle and San Diego. I have the screen shots to prove the speeds.

Hello, this thread makes me feel a lot better about my revolution. I got mine this week. I chose it because it was the cheapest 4g phone available that was not a slider (through my carrier anyway). All the reviews and comparisons (mostly with TB and Charge) i've seen since i got it had the revo coming in last, it has less memory than TB and supposedly the 4G download speed is slower than TB and charge.

I decided to just stick with it because i don't want the hassle of having to return it. It has HDMI to a TV (TB does not), and is the only one with netflix, which I subcribe to. Also, i didn't realize it was LG until i left the store, it is my 3rd LG brand phone in a row, so i am surrounded by chargers that all work with it. So maybe this was fate. Once i get screen protector(s), an HDMI cable, and an extended battery i'll be good to go.

The only other thing is when i get out of range of wifi and then back in it doesn't automatically connect back up, it says disabled for that network and i have to go to it and hit connect again. So far i have 2 wifi networks on there, and it's only doing this on one of them, so maybe it's something with that one, i'll just have to hope. Anyhow, it made my day to come across this thread, more people should stick up for the Revo!
