Root Bionic Bootstrapper is here!

Ok that is just plain weird. When I download it here on my work computer, it gets saved as a .zip file. No clue why.

I browsed to the page on my Bionic and clicked the link on there and now it's a .apk. Very strange.

An apk is just a zip with a different extension. The computer may not know what an apk is but sees the file is just a zip so it gives it that extension.

That makes sense thanks. Wonder why my work computer thinks it's ok to just rename files to different extensions but my home computers are ok with leaving it as .apk. Maybe it's a windows XP thing.

Edit: Or Internet Explorer, I use Chrome at home.

Yeah, DLing .APKs has been known to end up with a .ZIP interface - it could be IE (doubt it b/c it has worked for me in the past on all browsers) or it could be your company firewall scanning the file and changing the extension b/c malware tends to masquerade as other files to slip past corporate firewalls and anti-malware defense systems....so the firewall or anti-malware defense system reads the file header, determines its a .ZIP created by 7-zip, and tried to be helpful by renaming the file back to the .ZIP extension.

Ha! That's brilliant. Didn't know firewalls could do that :D
