Returning my Bionic to go back to Incredible

Well, I went and bought the Droid Bionic on release day. I thought, "...this thing is gonna blow my Incredible out of the airwaves!"

I can say that I actually DO like the phone, and even though I have not rooted it I have bought beautiful widgets and I use Go Launcher EX so it looks exactly the way I want it to look. It is fast, has a good feel, has great call quality and beats the Incredible in terms of battery life (but that is no surprise to anyone.)

I just don't see that it is worth the $300 over the Incredible. Anyone else coming back to the Incredible?

Replied to another post of yours. I am thinking of coming to the Inc. Few more days to mess around with the Bionic. Its nice, its blazing fast, I can see it in the daylight(i dont mind the pentile screen)...but $300 and wasting my only remaining early upgrade on it I dont think its worth it.

Btw wtf vzw doing away with early upgrades on the main account lines :(

I personally think that 4" is the sweet spot. Anything larger is too big to carry around for me. If the inc2 had LTE I would've upgraded. Do they even make and LTE in a 4"?

Not that I am aware of. I think the LTE hardware is what requires the bigger phone. The Inc 2 I had my eye on now, but I didn't want to use a upgrade on it. Your right IMO, 4" is a sweet spot. I am thinking about maybe just buying one outright. Waiting to see over the next couple months what comes out. Waiting to see what the iPhone5 is all about as well. Chances are I won't do the iPhone, but I want to check it out anyway.

You know what, I didn't notice the screen in the daylight until yesterday. I don't usually touch my phone while I am driving and this was the first time I got a call while I happened to be outside. Wow, I could actually SEE it. With my polarized sunglasses on and all... Still, the $300 price-line is too steep for me.

I thought that the size would be a problem too, but I quickly got used to it. For the first day I felt like it was going to slip out of my hand each time I checked messages or dialed. I think I have average sized hands for an adult male, my daughter would hate it. She would need two hands to do anything on it.

Debating whether to go back to my Incredible too after buying the Bionic and waiting to see how the Prime is. I have a week left to try out the Bionic though. I really do like the Bionic but the pentile screen bugs me a bit, even though it is way more visible in the sun than the Incredible ever was.

The phone is definitely better than the Incredible and I got use to having a larger screen and faster phone which I love, but I don't know if it's worth the $300 right now depending on what the Prime brings to the table. I might wait and see.

Does anybody know, is the Inc2 screen visible in the day light.
It is. It's a really nice screen, way better in sunlight than my AMOLED Incredible. I just upgraded my wife from her Eris to the Incredible 2 a couple of weeks ago.

It's a really nice phone. Having said that, I'm sticking with my Incredible at least till the Vigor comes out... the Incredible 2 is nice, but definitely not "better enough" than the Incredible to waste an upgrade. I have one NE2 left, and it's got Vigor written all over it.

I now have the Inc, however, I will soon be able to upgrade and I am considering the Bionic. I am tired of the sound quality on the Inc. It sounds like everybody is happy with the sound on the Bionic and they can see it in the daylight? Wow.... that is another big plus. I will have to see it to believe it. In any case, the Inc is history as soon as I can make the jump.

Ya, I've been able to upgrade since July. I won't waste my upgrade on the Inc2, but I may buy one out right. Then if something comes out that interests me I can use my upgrade. I'm not big on the 4.3" phone, and that seems to be the only thing that comes out now a days. So the Inc2 might be my next phone for a while.

Is the Inc2 already updated to GB or does it still also only have Froyo.

I upgraded to a Droid 3, then returned it. I didn't like having to slide out a keyboard as much as I thought. The screen was too washed out for me. I hated the colors. For me I'm willing to sacrifice outdoor visibility for a good looking screen since I'm looking at it so much. The droid 3 was also really bulky and heavy. So now I'm waiting for the "Droid prime" for ics.

Yeah the bionic is looking like a disappointment. Maybe if the first version would have come out in spring, but too little too late.

I upgraded to the Incredible this spring and am glad I did. The Nexus is tempting, but I really like HTC and don't like how big it's looking to be. The Incredible HD might be better, but I think I'd miss the AMOLED screen and ICS.

If the Bionic was made by hTC, I might consider it.
The Vigor (or Incredible HD) is rumoured to have equal specs. Just wish it had an OJ...

Done deal. I returned it and the guy at the VZW shop had a ton of questions for me. He wasn't giving me a hard time he just wanted to document why I was returning the newest hottest baddest phone on their network to go back to my DINC. I explained that the price point was not as much the issue as I initially thought it was even at the start of this post. I pulled out my Incredible and showed him how smooth, pretty, and and fast it is (recently switched to Business GingerSense ROM but he doesn't know that, I said I just bought a launcher for it) he didn't have a lot to say. I think that the performance on phones has pretty much plateaued... The next major move needs to be in battery technology/life. Until then, I'm holding my Incredible unless it dies on me.

Why do they have to make all these new phones so big? I will most likely stick with the Inc till it dies, unless HTC makes a new phone the same size.

I couldn't agree more. That's why i've been taking extra special care of my Inc because if it ever breaks, I will be done with smartphones unless someone makes one that is smaller than the current crop of phones. I absolutely hate all of the new phones because of their size.

Yep, I have slowly been just keeping an eye out for a backup Inc. New prefered, but haven't found anything yet.

Early upgrades are gone due to the removal of the NE2 program. If you are earning a NE2 currently, you may (depending on how much you're paying for that line) get an early upgrade at the 1 year mark of your contract. If you're not earning a NE2, you won't get an early upgrade outside of some sort of special promotion.

Also, please note that the NE2 (New Every 2) is not the standard 2-year contract upgrade eligibility. It was a special program that gave you an additional discount on top of 2-year contract pricing. Please do not make the extremely common mistake of thinking they are the same thing.

The phones are 4.3 and larger due to demand. What most Americans don't get is that America is not the primary market for smartphones. Europe is. Which is why HTC is getting ready to release their new Win 7 phone, the Titan, there. 4.7" screen on that phone. The Incredible 2 debuted over there as the Incredible S months before it was released with Verizon. Likewise with the Sensation before going to T-Mobile. The Europeans want big screen phones. That's what the manufacturers are going to make.

That could very well be, I have no idea if that is the case... I have never done any cell phone research into this, and have no idea if most Europeans want larger cell phones, or if that is what the cell phone companies think everybody wants. I don't even know where you would get that information from. Cell phone size is a very personal thing, just like what vehicle you drive. I would go back to a flip phone before I would ever get a 4.7" phone. Why do I want to hold a tablet up to my face to talk to somebody, not to mention a pocket to carry it around in. Wasn't that a Seinfeld episode where Jerry was carrying a "European Carry All":)
Maybe I'll have to buy a fanny pack to start carrying my cell phone around it... LOL
