Quad core worth waiting for?

We don't even have support for dual core phones yet.
That sir is incorrect. "As acknowledged by leading tech site AnandTech, Android already was multithreaded, even prior to the introduction of multicore SoCs. There are improvements to be made in terms of optimizing load between the two cores, and Honeycomb and ICS will bring those improvements (like garbage collection for one thing). But to suggest that one core is idle and once we flip a switch, we will magically get double performance is highly suspect and dubious." -Direct quote from AndroidForums member "NeoteriX"

Android ALREADY takes advantage of Dual cores.

Android ALREADY takes advantage of Dual cores.

Android is able to use and utilize dual cores yes, but not to full potential yet. Its like having a ferrari, you drive it to about 100mph, it can go faster, but you still dont have enough guts or skill to try and do so. After a bit of more training, you can go faster. As with android, a bit more tweaking, to use the SoC more efficiently.

Quad core in a phone is overkill what we really want is quad battery life. Seriously more cpu power, storage, resolution etc isn't needed or most of the rest of the tech the big players are touting. If i could get the same spec phone I have now with a battery that lasted a week or a month that would be my next buy. Chasing specs is so dumb esp when the specs we already have exceed what we need.

I'm not sure why we need Quad Core CPU's on mobiles to be honest, I would much prefer higher clocked Dual Core CPU's, better performace for everyday use and probably more power efficient if based on the same manufacturing process.

What are we planning on using Quad Core CPU's on phones for exactly? Other than nice benchmark scores of course.
