Help 3G doesn't work after regaining signal

I contacted Samsung asking if this problem could be fixed. Here is their reply:

Regarding your case, kindly note that the issue reported with the phone
indicates that the phone would need a software reset, or re flashing of
the Software, in order to have it operating normally again.

Please note that what has happened is caused by a minor software
confliction.
Hmm it may be a "minor" software conflict - but it results in a major problem!

They directed me to the nearest Service Centre... but at least it sounds like they are aware of the problem and have a solution.

I have the same problem. Change of location/cell tower and it struggles to re-connect. Airplane mode or restart several times a day :mad:
On three network.

Updated firmware to 2.3.4 via Kies, but still had same problem so sent off for repair.
Currently been in Three repair centre for 2 1/2 weeks n still waiting.

Incidentally I phoned samsung UK who claimed to have NOT heard of the fault before. Not true as plenty of other boards state members have phoned them up too.

I'll update this board when i get the phone back.

Also Kies informs me a firmware update is available (2.3.5 maybe?)

Anyhow Ice Cream Sandwich for the SGS2 due Q1 or Q2 2012 - lets hope for a fix

I live in Sweden and I have the exact same problem. The issues comes about when I turn Wi-Fi on, and then turn it off. 3G connection refuses to establish and therefore the only solution is to reset the whole package data. Restarting the phone won't work!

I have yet to wonder if I should do a complete factory reset or not? I have so much stuff on my phone that are so important. This would require a lot of time consuming because much of my stuff must be back and I'm not sure that I have the gut to do this.

Anyhow, I would appreciate if someone has a solution to this problem before I do anything stupid. I love this smartphone, but this 3G problem is really a pain in the ass.

I have this problem too. when i move out of my home wifi range the 3g symbol appears but there's no connection. The arrows blink but no data seems to be transmitted.
For now I turn off wifi on my phone before leaving home while still in the wifi coverage area. Seems to work, data connection work fine.
Still a royal pain...hope samsung fixes this soon.

14-feb-2012 update: Took phone to service center and had them reinstall the firmware. It seems to be working fine now. I have noticed the problem once so far after reinstllation. Let's see how long this holds.
