Yep, fast paced world and wondering what the Droid 4 may have. The device is great, but would be nice if the Droid 4 had:

1. Wider power & volume buttons
2. Hitachi hi res IPS panel (they will be a big player in 2012)
3. 1gb ram (no current issues, but the breathing room would be nice)
4. Second generation 28nm LTE chipset (should solve the space issue, since smaller fabrication process).
5. FM radio not hidden

Everything else could stay the same for me :)

Install a simple app and the FM radio works fine. No big there.

Edit: Okay fine. How about a combination global/LTE Dual sim.

Um. number 4.

Wishlist:
1)Louder speaker.
2)Thinner
3)No MotoBlur. It hard to differentiate what's Stock Android UI and what's MOTO's and it's confusing especially when looking for info on a particular UI problem (like what's this icon, and how do you get into this setting, and how do you use this fancy Universal box, etc)
4)dedicated camera button (optional I guess)
5)Better cameras (front and back)
6)LTE (but I wanna be able to talk and use internet at same time)
7)Better WiFi (2x2 antenna MIMO)
8)Some kind of WiDi
9)No bloatware!
10)No boot lock

Droid 4 wishlist
4G LTE
4+" screen
Physical QWERTY (3's looks nice)
4.0 ICS
No lip
HDMI out
Physical camera button
Front and rear cam (HD front & rear)
Super AMOLED display, 720p+ resolution
1.5+ GHz Quad core
16GB on board, up to 64GB expandable
1.5 GB DDR2 RAM
NFC chip

All the other usuals to be expected from a non-i*hone product (AKA stuff people actually want).

And maybe a surprise or two.. some new technology ;)

Alright Moto..... GO!

I don't see what's the point of some of you guys being such spec hogs. This phone has plenty muscle by today's standards. I'm sure the 4 will be the same when it comes out, even if its not a 1.5GHz quad core yada yada. I think Moto knows what they're doing with this line, keeping the great QWERTY and phone factor and gradually improving on the details. Doing something like going to a 4.5" screen would probably make it too big and ruin the phone for most.

Below is my simpler wish list:

1. Thinner (depth) and shorter (tall), and just as wide. Keep the same screen size.
2. LTE
3. No bottom lip.
4. Inductive charger.
5. Better rear camera. The current one only works for me if shooting a still object. Anything moving is a blur.
6. NFC
7. No Moto BLUR

i hate to be a jerk on this one but.. i think this thread is a bit fast. everyone is always qq'ing about their phone while being so focused on whats next. try enjoying the phone you have now instead of constantly looking to whats next.

i apologize but this whole thread irks me. its really hard to put in to words on exactly why. the most i can say is the droid 4 is at the veary least 1 to 1.5 years away and we should be happy with what we have now. if you constantly look forward to whats next or create wish lists, you'll forever be unhappy.

but to contribute to the thread.

wishlist: less bloatware
unlocked bootloader
4g
same keyboard as d3

I agree with everything you said, and I also find this thread ridiculous considering the fact that this phone is only 3 months old but any whoo

4.1 inch screen (i had to lol)
same keyboard
better camera
better processor
more ram
dedicated camera button
7-9 home screens
4G LTE
Latest OS

I think a great way to handle a droid 4 would be to have an open forum from moto on it. Think of how great that would be..."What should we as manufacturers do for this phone for you? Then, have a dev mod and a base mod with unlocked and locked bootloaders for those that want them. A phone built in this manner would easily be as popular as the Droid 1 for years. Ah, to dream....

Mmaybe its just me but id like to keep this big size overall.
-HTC quality camera(I loved the tbolt and dincs cameras)
-lte
And that's pretty much it.

See the problem with htc's cameras on phones is the audio is absolutely horrible. Youtube test videos from the mt4g slide or the g2. There are a -few- htc phones where the audio doesn't sound like youre talking in to a tincan that's buried in satans anus. Now if you could get a samsung quality camera with motorolas audio, you just made heaven.

As long as we are dreaming, how about a camera with an optical zoom and an camera application that starts up clean and fast, taking pictures when you push the button.

Maybe there is a better camera app than stock, I just have not looked hard.

Have any of you thought that maybe the legendary rumored Moto Bullet and Jet, could be the future children of what we now know is the Droid 3 and Droid X2/ Droid Bionic?? I think the Jet will be the new droid 4. And by the sounds of it, CPU and RAM won't be an issue. I believe it said a 4.0 inch screen for the jet, and the standard candybar 4.3 for the bullet. And I have an OG droid, and it has a dedicated camera button. Maybe the buttons on the qwerty keyboard can be raised a little more, and those annoying touch sensitive buttons on the bottom can be physical. Maybe: Just maybe include an led backlit screen 720p. That's all I have to say

1. 720p HD 4 inch display, non-pen tile.
2. Smaller (4.7 or 4.6 inches instead of 4.9, its big! [Droid 3]) (thinner 2!)
3. Lighter
4. 4G LTE
5. 2MP front facing camera
6. 1.5ghz dual core processor or more
7. Ice Cream Sandwich
8. Better physical/capacative buttons (volume buttons, camera button?)
9. All black version
10. Stronger battery door
11. Power button on the right side instead of on the top

Things to keep from the Droid 3:
1.Keyboard is perfect
2.bottom edge thing (like the droid 1)

I think Ice Cream Sandwich does not use the buttons, relying on software on-screen buttons at the bottom by default.

I personally want physical buttons that push so you have tactile feedback that the button was pushed. And I want a OS that responds to pushes, every single time, right away. My Palm Treo was pretty darn good on this...

We'll see when it comes out, but I have a feeling the ICS builds for existing phones will be smart enough to know that the phone has built-in controls (buttons, capacitive buttons) for those functions and will not waste the screen real-estate on those controls if they exist in hardware already.
