Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

So after loading Tickerguy and Isaac's recovery, I tried to navigate to the mounds/storage area of its inner menu and it keeps going to a nearly blank screen with the hat/arrow logo in the center. I'm switching back to my other recovery, but I'm also wondering what the issue may be here.

There is a change in the controls of the newer recoveries. It is also stated on the top of the first screen after the recovery loads. You must use the menu softkey to select and the back softkey to go back. Pressing power will only go to a screen with a hat.

Oh, by the way, while I was at it I fixed tethering. Well, sorta. It doesn't work for me on USB although it's turned on in the code right now (this may be a driver issue on my PC as it also doesn't throw any errors that tell me why it is failing - it looks like the PC is refusing the RNDIS connection to me)

Try turning off USB Debugging. It still won't work, but it seems to get a little bit further.

It kicks some serious ass on my Lenovo laptop too. I've always been amazed at how few laptops have internal Bluetooth - it's literally a $10 option to include it in the design but the good news is that you can buy small "dongles" that go into a USB port, barely stick out (you'd hardly know its there) and add it, and they're only $20 or so. Range is only 30' or thereabouts but the power consumption is a fraction of Wifi and it's plenty fast - 2mbps+ for newer implementations. It was well worth my time to get it running on CM7 as IMHO it's a superior solution to Wifi anyway, and with the Wifi driver being borked for tethering it may be the only tethering option we have that will actually work.

"Dial Up" over bluetooth worked in the base Froyo code but it's clunky as any time you get a data drop you have to "redial." That probably works in CM7 too but I didn't bother with it once I found the bits and pieces in there to run in this mode. This is dramatically superior in that it's a true network connection.

In regard to the teathering - I'm seemingly having a problem with it that was similar to the problem all along. Google sites load fine, other sites just wait and wait. (two different machines, each connected at times via bluetooth)

Am I the only one seeing this? Could this be because I, after blowing down 9/25, I then blew down Isaac's OC kernel on top of it?

Yes.

The MSS clamping has to be supported in the kernel. If it's not it won't blow up the tether (I specifically check for that), but the attempt to turn it on is ignored and then you must deal with the MTU issue yourself if required. Most Bluetooth PAN systems will run a 1477 MTU by default, which is too big.

If you want to verify this you can open up logcat and watch when you turn tethering on - if it gets pissed at the kernel it will log an appropriate error message.

Long time lurker on this site and just decided to register today to be active in this thread and do what I can to help with the CM7 development.

Firstly- Thanks to tickerguy and isaacj87 for all your hard work on this project. I believe that you and others will drive this device to be what it should have out of the box and more and your hard work is greatly appreciated.

Secondly- After reading through this thread for the past few days I'm not clear about the overclocking ability of this ROM. I understand that in the first few posts it is stated that tickerguy doesn't want to add OC support to his kernel but now that isaacj87 has joined the project I'm unclear as to if that is still the case. I apologize for what is probably a ridiculous question but if the OC is not in the current CM7 kernel is it safe to flash something like the Umph kernel or does it need to be built specifically for this version of CM7?

From what I've seen and read the CM7 build in its current state seems to perform nearly as well in basic use as an OC kernel in terms of speed but I've already pushed my phone to 1.9Ghz and it is stable there so I'd love to be able to keep that or at least add it back in easily in the future. Again thank you for your hard work and I appreciate any answers I could get about the OC ability of the project now and in the future.

My position is that I will not include an OC kernel nor support it for the reasons I stated above. I don't know why anyone would believe I'd change my position on this. Let me make it perfectly clear: I will not include an OC kernel with my builds now or in the future and if you're running one and report some sort of problem that cannot be reproduced immediately on a stock kernel you're going to be ignored, as I have no way to figure out if a stability issue is related ot the OC or not.

If you wish to load one, feel free to do so. Isaac has built one, however at present his does not support MSS clamping. You decide which is more important at the present time (I suspect he will add MSS clamp support, but right now it's not there.)

Thanks for taking the time to answer. The only reason I was unsure was because my understanding is that you are no longer the sole dev for this project. I understand your position, I just wasn't sure if anything had changed since you began working together.

EDIT: meant first time i ran into this problem, not first time installing CM7

I've been watching this from it's inception, and I've finally decided to go ahead and do it -- now that GPS has been fixed -- and I absolutely love it so far. I really missed the black background in the SMS app by default, hold back button to close app, battery percent, the quick buttons in the notification menu (No more Quick Settings)..

So much love. Is there a way to donate both to you and isaac, tickerguy?

Thank you tickerguy & isaacj87 for the awesome work on this rom.
I have been folowing this thread since day one and I have to say you are quick. I owned the G1 and Droid X and played around with CWM for while now.
I still haven't flashed mine yet, but at this rate of fixes and improvements I will make the leap soon. I'm just waiting for FC and HDMI since I do use those 2 features :). I'll wait paitiently, but looking forward to native tethering and improve battery life. Thank you guys again.

I can send you a HDMI cable if you want one that is. :)
