Until we have a custom kernel, this app won't work. Period.

Frankly, as much as I LOVE over-clocking, I don't understand what you'll gain on this beast. It's already flying. Whereas on the OG Droid, we NEEDED to do it!

You're probably right but I'm still going to try it anyways.

Ah yes, I forgot we need a custom kernel first. Its been so long since I rooted and messed worth my Droid incredible I forgot some of this stuff.

SetCPU can be made to work with stock moto kernels but we have to wait. But I would love to overclock even though it's not necessary with the Bionic. I want to overclock it to at least 1.2 or 1.4 to see if it'll compare to a stock SGSII. Just for kicks. :D Don't tell me you guys aren't curious just a little bit?

I know that with an Overclocked Moto D1, I felt no reason to upgrade to a D2 or DX. It fed my need for speed. lol :p

Edit: Fixed. haha:p

It is not true that you can not overclock with a locked bootloader. I had a DX and was able to overclock it with Driod Overclock and Quick Clock and I also know that SetCPU also worked. The main thing I did on my DX was lowered the voltage to get a couple more hours out of the battery and would love to be able to do this with the Bionic. What we need is one of these developers to do the work to get it to support the Bionic. The questions is will this ever happen since it could require a large amount of work to do that.

Guys,

You should be able to overclock the Bionic, but you'll have to wait until the overclock app devs change their apps to adjust the in-memory overclocking parameters (i.e., specific to the Bionic).

^^^ That's how you get around the locked bootloader issue.

Its that the overclocking apps wait until the device is booted-up before changing the memory values that will allow the device to be overclocked, undervolted, etc. They'll have to find the proper memory addresses and values for this to work.

Cheers!

I use it to underclock while plugged in or screen off. Not sure if it really saves any battery life. But since I payed for the app, I may as well use it ;)

Well... there is CPU Master by AnTuTu, which is completely free and works just the same as SetCPU...

I actually did the opposite and turned it to 800Hz - 1000Hz. I like my stuff snappy.

LOL. What can I say, I'm a nice guy.

Well, that just made my day. Perfection right there.

I had to do that with my (now dead GT 10.1 :() since it was quite slow. Haven't seen the free apps though. I have a handful of paid root only apps that I really wanted to use on the Bionic, and glad I am. Don't know if SetCPU is helping much, but my battery life has been almost as good as it was on my Droid (OC'd to 1Ghz with the same CPU settings).

Um, am I the only poor son of a bitch that wants to UNDERclock this puppy a bit to get a little better battery life? Is this possible yet?

You're talking to a lot of people who have the extended batteries....

Under volting is definitely a must. I had forgotten how crucial it is for battery life since my OG was undervolted for so long.

I've set a record with my phone (my own personal record, not a record for everyone) at around 38 hours on my extended battery.

If I were to undervolt my CPU, I might get this thing past 48 hours....and I have 2 of these batteries that I swap out, plus 2 stock batteries. Since the stock batteries are more than 50% capacity of the extended batteries, it's safe to say I could probably push those to 24 hours each.

That means, the with each battery fully charged and me undervolting, I could theoretically have enough juice for 6 DAYS without having to have a charger.

However, with my PCs, I've never undervolted - I've always just accommodated the heat output but making my cooling more efficient. My Cor2Quad 6600 G0 stepping CPU did not like to be undervolted at all. It achieved a 50% OC great on water, 33% on air - but the second I undervolted it it crashed left and right.

So, I suppose that undervolting and me mix like gasoline and fire lol.

I loved SetCPU on my Droid X, but it doesn't seem to want to play nice with my Bionic. I am thinking it needs an update. I'll guess I will hold off until there is a new release...

I certainly hope he does, although I have not tried any of the newer apps out there, I love the built in profiles and whatnot. it's still a very robust app for its age, no less.

So in my previous 3 weeks owning the Bionic I never got the Black Screen of Death. Today (yesterday now) I rooted installed all of my old root apps and started to get an unresponsive screen and power button. Usually it would lockup with the screen on, then I'd hit the power button, the screen would go black and then the phone would do nothing. I had to pull the battery or "soft reset" it (hold down both volume keys and hit the power button).

I thought, well I'll try uninstalling SetCpu since it's not doing much for me anyway. I've had no lockup/ BSOD problems for the past 3 hours.
