hi

used the search, but can't find anything related to my issue.
just got my samsung galaxy S2 on monday. been using the HTC Desire before.

my connection, either on wifi or 3G, is fine.
but i'm getting a connection error mesage when:
- trying to do a software update in: Settings -> about phone
- in the samsung apps

as for the samsung apps, there's s "1" showing, telling me there's updates. then it says "update notification - samsung apps update available. update? samsung installer utility".

so i click OK and then for about 30 secs nothing happens and then i'm getting "error - network not available"

what's wrong and how can i fix this? can't find any threads about this.

i just did a factory reset.
and all issues remain the same!

so before i installed anything else, i went right into the settings and checked for update, and again it tells me that the connection fails :(

and the samsung apps also won't allow me to update.

basically i want to have the latest firmware, but how can i download it if it keeps telling me that the connection fails?

for samsung apps, not sure if i ever need it. but the system update is essential :((

Samsung don't provide OTA updates for the GS2 (yet - maybe they will in the future). The "software update" button doesn't work for anyone. Install Kies and connect your handset via USB to check for official carrier-sanctioned updates.

I can't help with the Samsung Apps issue - I updated my own once a while back but as I don't use them I've since removed them from my system. Not sure if you need a Samsung Account or not; I already had one configured.
