GB OTA has started

I have an old school MR2/clockwork 4.0.1.5/so warm... so snuggly... hboot Thunderbolt. :)

When I woke my phone up this morning there was a message about the update. If I recall correctly, it had a prompt that said it had an update available and had an "OK" button. It was counting down from 30 seconds where it said it was going to start the download. I powered the phone off.

Shortly after I powered the phone back on it started the download on it's own. I put the phone in Airplane mode and the download failed. I took it out of Airplane mode and watched a few minutes and nothing happened. A couple hours later the phone made a sound and it said the update had downloaded.

It gave me two choices. Update now or defer. It let me defer for 5 days. I wonder if I will be able to defer again in 5 days? Should I update to the latest leaked version?

You should flash the latest leaked rom, or a different custom rom or your phone will still try to install the update.

Applied the update just after midnight. Did anyone else lose their clock shortcut in the app drawer? Mine is gone. I can get there by searching for clock. Anyone know how to get the shortcut back?

Strangely...I see this. I use Go Launcher, and it's still in my list of apps THERE, but on the stock one, nothing. However, on the Stock UI, if you hold down, and go to add a Widget, it's there as a widget as normal. If you add a clock widget and then click it from your screen, it takes you into the clock app. But the app itself, I can't seem to find on the App drawer anywhere. So far, that's the only way I've found on the Stock to access it. Again, on Go Launcher, it's in my app drawer as normal. Very weird.

So far, I can say I'm fine with the update so far. Skype front video, FINALLY. I don't use Google Talk with video or anything, so that's not a big deal for me. I can easily not worry about that until they patch it. As for the Voicemail.. I do get a notification on it, but I don't have an indicator on my VM icon. I do use Go Launcher though, and Go SMS, so...that might be part of it. As long as it at least notifies me of a message, it'll be fine for me, since I rarely get calls. I did notice that just opening the call list didn't automatically clear the missed call indicator - I had to click on Clear from the status bar. Again, that may be just a Go Launcher thing, I dunno. Haven't tested it completely in Sense.

EDIT: Yeahha beat me to the clock thing :p

you cannot use that method after the OTA,even if you wanted. its temp exploit has been patched in GB. you could use it now,but its outdated. if wanting to learn how to use ADB,go for it-we will help :D

if you just want to be rooted, use revolutionary, you wont lose any data.

Revolutionary

i personally would root now. if you do not install clockwork, you can let the OTA happen, and very easily root after.

Sweet I just followed the instructions and everything went well. How do I know if Im rooted?

The Verizon page yesterday stated: "New Desktop User Interface" in the "Emhancements" list....guess I'm just confused? I'm just not seeing the changes...

I discovered last night (recieved the OTA yesterday) when I put my phone on the media dock, to use my phone as an alarm, that the whole desk top layout had changed. Maybe this is what verizon ment by "new desktop user interface"?

I have not had a chance to go in and mess with it, but stock is a slide show of images (I guess the images came with the update) a spot for friend stream, and a spot for for the time/date/weather, and a spot for a calendar.
