Ya gotta unzip it to anywhere you can easily find it...no easy buckets guys ;)

Install it with QPST, LGNPST, or any other method you choose. Now please be warned that this only improves service in certain areas so don't be disappointed if you don't see that beautiful 3G logo just yet :)

THE WAIT IS OVER!!!

I did some research and found a great guide to modding your build properties here:http://androinica.com/2009/12/hack-for-rooted-phones-promises-faster-2g3g-speeds/Many thanks go out to XDA and to all who have contirbuted their time and devices in the name of improved performance!!!!

For now all I have done to my own build properties is change these values:
ro.ril.hsxpa=1 to ro.ril.hsxpa=2
ro.ril.gprsclass=10 to ro.ril.hsxpa=12

It really does take several reboots to get the changes made to settle in but my 3g speed seems to have improved...but I'll need to do a little traveling to be sure. If all goes well I'm going to apply the rest of that tutorial to my own build properties ;)

I get 3G more often but my phone has to switch to 1x before I can use data.

Metro 3g only seems to be slightly stronger than the typical 1x on the Optimus M but the difference is dramatic on the Hauwei Ascend that I applied the same PRL to. Both phones have CM7 2.3.5 but the Hauwei 3g seemed alot faster. I'm gonna compare the two devices build properties and see if the problem is there

thanks for commenting above^^ - was just now going to ask how 3023 was working for you on Opt M. Keep us updated - havent updated yet from 3022 - will wait few days to hear your results (realize also depends on our area). TIA :)

LOL...seems we both had the same results. So I've been told the Hauwei has a radio more powerful than us. There's gotta some way to match the Ascends performance in 3g.

Edit: I'm still filtering through all the build properties from our most common roms (PlayfulGod's CM7.2, Reppards CM7.1-IHO, and BOBZ CM7.2) and some of the Ascends roms which there are a million of...lol. So far though the minor changes I've made have helped out some.
Note:If your build properties have the existing properties from the tutorial in the OP then consider changing some of the values :)

My ro.ril.hsxpa was set to 3. From my research the only valid values are 0, 1 and 2... wtf is going on here?

That's a good question...the answer is it is the value applied when the properties were compiled. I've seen that value preset in previous CM7 builds but I payed it no attention cause we didn't even have 3022prl at the time. 3 is definitely not a valid value...lol

Hey Tweek, off-topic question, but since I have your attention... :p

You mentioned in another thread you had flash working good with the right kernel, are we talking useable flash video? Mine is full of green artifacts, apps and games work good but video is a no go, just wondering if you might have found something...

Also you mentioned putting backlight to auto and the proximity sensor can adjust... didn't realize that hardware could do that... how do I change to auto?

I use the plague kernel and swf player from the market. I normally set my Max frequency to 806mhz w/ performance governor. As for the backlight go to settings>display>brightness. Look around there and you'll find the setting that allows a custom level to be set...choose auto. Now according to battery condition vs. area illumination the screens brightness levels will adjust accordingly. Most of the time you won’t notice it especially when running apps that have independent brightness controls. Oh and keep the proximity sensor very clean and you might wanna look in the build properties for ro.lge.proximity.delay=(change value to 60-80).
That will improve the screen on/off while calling and overall proximity sensor performance from what I've seen

Edit:I set my proximity value to 80

Ok that explains the flash issue, I'm talking about streaming flash video from a site like justin.tv, flash videos do play nice with swf player.

As for backlight I don't have that option, when I click brightness I just get a slider, no auto option at all...

For the backlight control you could either add it to your notification power widget in cm settings and then scroll down and select brightness modes>
Or make a power control widget for your homescreen and from the widget settings screen (while making the widget) add whatever you want and then scroll to the bottom and set brightness that way...as for improving flash another tip would be to go to cm settings>performance and turn off screen dithering.
