Installed Universal Androot, rooted it, installed Link2SD, created a 2nd partition (tried FAT,FAT32,EXT2). No luck so far. Getting: "Invalid Argument" creating the mount script.
Digging around on other forums I found you have to play around with the new partition (make it primary, set it active) etc. Still no luck.
Gonna dig around some more.
EDIT - Spoke too soon, mounted now after a reboot and it told me to reboot again to make sure the script works. WOOT!
LG is really pissing me off. The nearly-identical VS740 (LG Ally) got updated to 2.2 back in January. Janu****ingary! Well it's ****ing OCTOBER now and still no update. WTF, LG? What, because we're in Canada we don't count? Well then **** YOU! My next phone will not be from LG.
Last 2-3 attemps to contact LG yielded very vague answers... As in "It'll come when it'll be ready and approved by Telus". The least vague answer was "By the end of the year." but then again, never specified WHICH YEAR...
I still look every couple of days or so, but I'm not holding my breath.
Well first we were told that we would be receiving the Android 2.2 update in July and we just had to be patient like our fellow LG Ally users in the USA and eventually LG would reward us all with an update (DID NOT HAPPEN!!!). Then they dangled the next carrot in front of our noses by telling us that since we were good patient Canadians if we were willing to wait until September they would reward us all for our patience by upgrading us not to Android 2.2 but to Android 2.3 (DID NOT HAPPEN!!!).
LG and Telus you should be ashamed of the way you have treated your Canadian customers. All I want from LG as a customer are timely updates to your products and the respect of not being lied to as to when I will be receiving those updates, and from Telus because we were willing to purchase the LG Shine Plus which was exclusively sold by Telus that I can count on support from my service provider and confidence that you are working on my behalf to ensure that my cellphone product is at least maintained at the highest level of the Android Operating System that it can support. I feel as a loyal Telus customer that is what I expect and what I am entitled to from my service provider.
This above quote is from the other thread-android 2.3
Can anyone else confirm this? I'm going to give this a shot myself in a bit. Sorry If it seems I don't believe you alfi its just it sounds way too good to be true.
New mobile phone software is available
Please update your software.
If not connected, connect the device now to start update.
If the update is done later, connect the device at that time.
I can't run this now because I have to take off. I will give it a shot later tonight and let you guys know.
it's true seem to be a joke but this morning i check the software version with lg mobile updater and told me that a version 20A is available, so i unroot my phone backup everything and go for the update

Thanks, LG/Telus. Better late than never, I guess! And I was about a day away from giving up hope and upgrading to a newer phone. Now, I may wait... Maybe. THANKS, LG/Telus... ;p
I did the update last night. I un-rooted, reformatted the microSD card (backup first), reset to factory defaults, did the update, reset to factory defaults again and it seems to be working for me so far.
It's a bit laggy, imho, but it's no Snapdragon CPU either.
