Thinking of replacing Legend with Sensation

So I bought my Legend in June '10. and frankly, the phone kept deteriorating until now it reached an alarming state.

My problems:
-It's very slow, prone to hang, doesn't play a lot of games (or laggy, due to its RAM I guess?)

-A problem where when I update or install a new app, it said "couldn't install on USB or Mass Storage" I googled this problem and it sai dthe phone must be rooted to fix this problem, and my phone is not rooted (I also don't know what rooting is for, really).

-battery-wise, I've lost the original battery (yep...) and now I'm using another brand. but I think the performance is the same with the original, with 3g on it only lasted about 2-4 hours... So I can only play or browse mostly when I'm close to home (and the charger inside)

So I'm thinking of buying a new phone, that is SGS II, Sensation, or Optimus 2x. I've checked their specs, and Optimus doesn't seem like the one I need. So it's SGS II vs Sensation. I've did a lot of googling about these two, and mostly it said SGS II wins in the hardware section, buat lacks the UI. I want the sensation because it's a good looking phone, build and UI. but a problem comes to mind.

How much is the real memory available for installing apps on the SGS II and Sensation? In Legend you only get 180 mb (not including htc apps) and it really suck since I can't install bigger games... so It's a very important factor for me.

Thx for reading this and I'm really hoping you guys will have some opinions on this.

I am delighted with my Sensation and don't have any problem with listening to the sound, which is surprising considering my wife swears blind I am as deaf as a post!

It sounds like the battery on your existing phone is knackered. Having said that the screen it by far the biggest eater of battery life and I know of no smartphone that will work much longer than 3 or 4 hours if you keep the screen on for all of that time.

The only slight problem I had with the Sensation was the battery life, which was about a day with medium use. However I bought a couple of Anker replacement batteries and they are better.

The thing that makes the Sensation so much better for me is HTC's Sense UI, which is the best I have seen anywhere in my opinion.

Volume is fine on mine also

I take it you never watch Sky news video reports, or youtube, or listen to the radio ? Compared to th iPhone speaker this one is lame in comparisson. It's not the phone, i've read on other forums that HTC just used a cheapo speaker. So the ringtones other than that of the old phone ringtone you can't hear, never mind watching any videos, unless your in a completely quiet place.

No I don't, and if I do I take most reports like that with a healthy pinch of salt. Most "media types" are Apple zombies (technophobes) and make every effort to say how much better their products are. And Apple pays a lot of money to keep it that way. Don't believe me? Watch any film or TV drama. When the actors are looking at a computer, how often is it an Apple? Much more often than the market share Apple has in the real world! It's called product placement, and it has always happened, even before it was allowed to in the UK.

Instead I believe my own ears and they tell me that the sounds coming from my Sensation are fine. Loud enough and good enough to be understood. Maybe not up the wonderful Apple :)rolleyes:) standard, but certainly fine for what I want. And not stereo hifi quality either (obviously) but if I want that I use headphones. And I use the internal speaker for things such as music ring tones, sat nav instructions, speaker phone, watching iplayer, etc. I have no problem hearing and understanding.

If I am in a noisy public place, like a train or plane, I do use headphones, but that is mainly out of consideration for others around me.

wow, 7 replies and not one addresses the op's main question...

the sensation has a 4 gig chip inside, about 1 gig of which is free when you take it out of the box (rest being taken up by the os, sense etc.), which i find is plenty for what i need (i still have 0.92 gigs free)

but if you want to install a million huge apps, that's no problem anyway
since 2.2 or 2.3 (i forget) android has had the ability to install apps to the sd card (it comes with an 8 gig card if i remember right) without the need for any trickery, so there's pretty much no way you could run out of space with apps alone

'Reports' as in the quality of speaker  It states the speaker type in the specs of the phone. Not an Apple'lover, or i wouldn't have an Android and push friends, colleagues to get Android. Market placement  I've seen the Jones' ;)

Headphones are all well and good, i use the Boostaroo amp attachment and as with 'consideration for others around me' You must be the only one, but you've just pushed yourself into the 40+ age group with that :p It's a rubbish speaker and coming from the Desire i wasn't impressed they didn't upgrade the speaker. Annoying that the iPhone and 'other' phones have better speakers. Don't take it personally, but are you deaf :D

So what? Does my age make my opinions worthless?? Consideration for others has nothing to do with "what" you are (i.e. age), more to do with "who" you are (i.e. character). I meet lots a people younger than me who have it, and some who don't ;).

'Don't take it personally, but are you deaf :D

I thought I may be, but obviously I am not, because I am not the one saying the phone is too quiet.
