I have a Motorola Photon that I just rooted and everything was working just fine like it did with my EVO 4 G. So I put Photon-Penguins-RC2 kernel on my phone and go to reboot the phone and all I get is is the red dual core screen with at the top Fail to boot 2 Starting RSD mode. I backed up the stock rom and I tried to reboot into recovery and when I hold the power button and volume down I get nothing but when I hold the power button and volume up I get Failed to boot 2 Starting Fastboot protocol support. Does anyone have any ideal what I can do to get the phone to recovery so I can restore my back up?

you phone is screwed i dont mean to be blunt i just got my brand new photon 2 days ago mine did the same thing it would go to the duel core screen and not go anyfurther but mine wouldnt even boot into safe mode or recovery mode whatever it is they couldnt even get in to it to see what happened did the rooting process go ok mine did then the next night when i rebooted it routinely it never came back on.....

I recommend going on XDA and doing a search on the Photon forum. There are quite a few other users who had the same type of issues and step-by-step solutions were posted that should be able to help you out. I hate to admit it but there aren't that many rooted Photon users with the knowledge to fix your issues who visit this forum regularly enough who can provide a solution to resolve your issues.

I would flash back to the 45.2.5 Update using RSDLite, don't worry about recovery...then I would root using the system.img method, and then reinstall Clockwork Mod. You should then be able to flash kernels, or flash Homebase Rom which has shabby's kernel to overclock your Photon.

I have the SBF file from theunlockr.com via the XDA fourms and I can not flash it over because it fails every time. I used bootstrap... Nothing on the main penguin page said that you couldn't so I didn't see a problem.. until my phone wouldn't boot and am now researching how to fix it.. now that I see that it can't be flashed over with bootstrap I wont do it that way.. I will get CWM and re-do it.. but for now.. I just need a way to flash the standard SBF back onto my photon.. it will boot up onto the Dual Core screen and say "Failed to boot 2" and the next line says "Starting RSD mode" and yet it just fails when I use RSD lite to flash the SBF over.. any words??

** I don't know if wiping your phone/factory reset is necessary here, but you might want to do that first**

1) Charge your phone fully
2) Plug into the back of your computer
3) Retry, using RSDLite, the SBF that gets you to version 45.2.5

Your phone should reboot just fine, be patient...I hope that helps..if not, sorry dude.

Best,
K
