Official Release Date Rumor Thread

I've already returned mine once today.....same thing for both...What gives Samsung? For those that say you aren't getting any pink spot in yours.....take a picture in low light.....I just got off the phone with two others that have the same problem. What a way to screw this up!!!

You can't really go by the low light. Phone cameras are notorious for taking terrible low light pictures because their sensor is just too small.

The At&t store had a ballistic case for 35.00. I was checking ebay a jersey dude had ballistics and outterbox 3 layer for the international and the I777 and the price was 22.50 with free shipping. I would like the outterbox 5 layer when it comes out but I am tempted to get it. I wonder how can you tell if it is a knock off?

I would say it's a knock off because Otterbox hasn't made one for the i777 yet. Probably just a hacked up one for the original GS2.

This is correct, it's not only Samsung.

It's Apple, HTC, and a few others IIRC.

The effect can't be seen in good lighting.

The effect can be lowered to some extent by changing the White Balance.

remrem, which screen protector (specifically) do you prefer? I can't stand the ones that are grippy. Defeats the whole purpose of that beautiful, smooth gorilla glass screen.

Seidio and Steinheil have had some of the best ones in the past, though I've sometimes bought no name cheapies that also do the trick. I have not researched this yet, so I don't know who at this point is offering one for the GS II.

Whatever I buy, I always buy a 2-pack just to have a backup. Amazon has usually been a good source for these, though sometimes the ones AT&T sells can be pretty good too. In any case, be sure you order the crystal clear ones. If it says something like "fingerprint resistant", or "glare reducing", that's the clue that you are not going to get the type I've mentioned.

P.S. - a footnote to my installation instructions of yesterday: One should still strive to be in a low dust environment. Though I've never had to resort to this, some people say to go into the bathroom and run a hot shower for a few minutes, and that the steam will clear the room of dust and make an ideal place to perform the installation.

I was thinking maybe they were for the international sg2 since in there ad they say only the international and at&t.

Got mine at Best Buy this morning. The Best Buy guy even matched the $148.88 Wal-Mart price, even though they didn't have any in stock yet.

Where was the 148.00 price posted. I would need something to go in there with and I can't seem to find anything on wallmarts website.

I have only seen the $148.88 price mentioned online. I mentioned to the Best Buy rep helping me and that I had checked and Wal-Mart didn't have any in stock. I said Iwould come back when I could pricematch for a refund and he said "No Problem, I know about that. I will pricematch for you so you don't need to come in." I was pretty happy with that. Earned Best Buy some loyalty from me.

Okay impressions after using the phone for a while.

Call quality coming from Apple, same. That's a good thing.

Speed of the phone: Amazing. Blazing fast compared to my Iphone 3GS lol.

The UI took a little getting used to but I like it a lot. Also, if you download the app autoresize it makes your wallpaper crystal clear (pictures that you take) and keeps them from moving when you scroll to different pages.

The camera is great now that I have turned on auto contrast and fidgeted with the white balance. Knowing that it is not a hardware but a easy software fix put my mind at ease.

This phone was soooo worth the wait for me. I hope everyone is liking theirs as I am.

When I got mine from the AT&T store they gave me three free things with it since it doesn't have a rebate with the phone yet. I had my pick of an 8 gb memory card, a bluetooth headset, a case of my choice, a car charger.

I picked the car charger, memory card, and case. The case I picked was the casemate pop (I think that's what it is called.) It will tide me over until I find something else. On that note, does anyone know if the cases for the international version will fit the AT&T model? If they will there are some really good cases out there.

Well I was driving to lunch and saw a radio shack. Decided to try my luck. They didnt have one in stock, but a nearby store did and the manager was picking it up for me on his way into the store later in the day. Did all my contract stuff. Hopefully in an hour or two I will be able to walk into the store to pick it up!

With these phone is it okay to leave them plugged in at night? I ask because when it says it is fully charged it says disconnect the cable but I need it charged overnight so I can be ready for a full day.

I've been leaving my Captivate plugged in all night every night for over a year and no problems, except it vibrates for a few seconds when it reaches 100%, so if it's in the bedroom I put in on a pillow so it won't wake me. I assume that when it reaches full charge it stops charging. I also assume it will be the same with this phone, but you know what they say about assuming!
