Root ROM + Radio Question

I am looking to flash a custom ROM on my TB. My phone is stock right now but I have experience flashing ROMs on the OG Droid.

My question is two-fold. One, what is the overall most stable and reliable ROM at this point? Two, what is all of this talk about flashing new radios, etc? I do live in a 4G area if that matters.

If anybody can point me toward a relatively stable ROM + whatever info I need for flashing a new radio I would be be appreciative. Thanks!

As a beginner, you should try SKYRAIDER ZEUS for your SENSE rom. It's as stock as it can be in term of stability. And doesn't require patches. Try that out first and then you can navigate to other waters, like BAMF Forever (Sense 3.0) or Son of a Bliss (with Sense 3.5)

I'm on AOSP/CM7 now after using a bunch of Sense and I just love the feel of it. And I will stay here for a while (as Sense-less as I can be) ;).

I have been wanting to flash the new radio... but that one makes me nervous. I know I wouldn't be able to recover my phone if I screw it up.

My phone seems to have a hard time switching between 3g and 4g, at least with my last ROM it did.

FWIW, I've flashed that radio TWICE. Once when it first leaked, then a day ago just because I wanted to be sure it's the final one. No problem whatsoever.

Flashing a radio is easy, before you flash just make sure you have the correct file (verify the MD5) then flash it, really because it is an hboot flash you can't exactly screw it up if you have the right file.

Should the radio be flashed before, during, or after flashing a ROM?

Also, with regards to CM7, how are the gapps installed? Same way as the ROM?

You can't get into recovery to flash a rom with the radio renamed and on the root of the SD. I would suggest flashing it first then rebooting into whatever rom you are running and deleting the radio from the SD card then rebooting into recovery and flashing your rom.

You flash gapps just like a rom except you don't need to do a wipe of the data to flash gapps, wiping cache/dalvik should be fine.
