For those of you who follow me on Twitter (@WormDoes - shameless plug ;)) you may have seen this already, but for those who don't (why aren't you following me??) here goes. I saw @xoomdev (OMFGB developer) retweet a tweet from Lou saying he can't wait to get his TB on Tuesday. When I saw this I immediately asked him if he'd be developing kernels for the TB to which he replied..

"A decent kernel is actually the very first thing I will be doing when I get the phone"

With Imoseyon not developing at the rate he was in the past I am VERY excited to see Lou bring his kernel knowledge to our TB community

So, you may be wondering, who the hell is Lou? For those of you who didn't own a Droid Incredible, he developed a couple of very popular ROMs and, most importantly, incredible (no pun intended) kernels. His kernels were the best available for the Incredible and he's close behind Imoseyon AFA the best kernel developer I've ever seen. Lou's "#9" kernel gave me the best battery life I have ever personally seen on an Android device.

This is great news for a Monday morning. Considering the amount of hype that kernels have gotten around here the past couple weeks I figured this would be something everyone would want to know about. Get excited people, the kernel game is about to change :D

Cheers!

My kids still run Redemption 2.x on both their incredibles, and I believe at least one of them with Lou's #9. I remember when he first started deving kernels because everyone was all over the place with different ones. Didn't adryn do DI kernels too? My DI is still sitting on my desk with CM7 updated usually about once a week. I use it as a night clock, wifi, Pandora etc.

I'm sitting on an upgrade I need to burn by Jan1. What's up with Tbolt 2? Maybe Lou is getting that one in October?

Yea man I'm pumped up. I'm also curious if he's going to be working on a ROM. It'll more than likely be sense so I won't run it, but still curious as he makes solid stuff

Do you think he will be making AOSP kernels or just Sense? I've never heard of this guy so I can't get excited yet, kinda feel burned with how little we have seen from chevy.

The problem is that aosp and gb sense is broken. So why make a rom that brings all the problems with it? Unless he's doing Froyo which is the only one that isn't fubar. Don't get me wrong, I love his roms but what would be the point? Another theme? Nothing will change much at this point on the TB unless some major release of code or OTA is in the works. With the Bionic, Vigor, and Nexus on the docks, it's just about over for us.

Yeah, it's one of those days. The frustrating part is that we've been dealing with the same issues for months now with no real resolution in sight. Even GB Sense, which runs simply awful on my phone, has no VM notifications. Aosp, puts me in Rosa, AL every single day. I hardly even know where Alabama is, although I did drive through there back in '77. If you recall all these great devs came to the TB when it got rooted. How long do you think they'll hang around once the Prime and Vigor get root? Maybe a month or two from now?

I still have my rooted Eris, and 3 DIs in the family along with my TB. So I don't give up on phones, they all run exceptionally well. But hoping that devs will stick with the TB by Jan 2012, IMHO, is wishful thinking. And until the RIL is released and updated, and until GB Sense is OTA, is there anything anyone can do other than put another pretty face on a flawed OS?

I have to agree with worm, there are still devs making OG Droid roms we haven't come close to the end of the after market dev support for the bolt. Remember GB has been out for months that fact may have made it seem like things have gone stale but ICS is just around the corner once it is out we will see more development more rapidly. From what I understand the bolt is one of the biggest dev phones right now.

Well I hope you guys are right, you know that. As I said, I'm just frustrated. And this battery thing is kind of bugging me. Anyway time will tell.

I'm thinking of getting a replacement due to the battery reporting issue, but the refurbs look like heck, screen wise. (sent back 2 a few months ago) Are there 2 different displays for the Tbolt? If so, what are they and how can you tell?

Don't forget that the Tbolt is one of the best selling Android phones...a quarter million in the first two weeks, outselling the iPhone, etc. This keeps the Thunderbolt forums active which in turn keeps the devs engaged.

Yeah, and seems like half of them are in the TeamBAMF forum. The thank list for the BAMF Forever thread fills the whole screen.
