Help Can't get it in Texas!?!?

Glad to hear someone in South Texas got one. Probably some b.s. they fed me because they didn't get any shipment in. Hopefully today's the day.

I dont think it is. No Austin stores are getting it. I read at another forum that "Samsung Galaxy S II - $199.99 (excludes LA, N. Cal and STX)". STX = south Texas.

Also read this:

"I got the last of only 5 today at BB in Simi Valley, CA. and it just so happened that the region Samsung Dealer was there when I was there. And he confirmed that the ATT stores in this area and several others would not be getting the SGSII because...He could not say the reason but did drop the "Assumption"

that it was because of a certain brand of phone exclusive...What a Joke, but that is what happens when you sign into exclusive deals. Oh well I was not planning on getting this today but the opportunity was there and I traded in my Infuse (of only a month and a half)and now I am a (Happy) SGSII user. Now the Fun begins!"

Apparently I can get it by calling AT&T, which I plan on doing tomorrow. I have no idea what's going on with my local stores. However, they said it's 3G, but I think that must be because our network around here must be 3G. Once we get a 4G network, the phone will be 4G too (I hope). I can't imagine they made a 3G and 4G phone.

This is not a true 4G phone. It is HSPA+ which we do have in Austin. I got one from Radio Shack and I get the HSPA+ just fine. The type of network in our area is not why we didnt get it. Im not positive why though.

Yep, all corporate stores still not getting them around here. I finally called and it's being shipped to me. Will have it tomorrow or Thursday. Can't wait!
On a side note, can't believe they told them to say it doesn't work on our networks down here.

I went back to a corporate store to return my LG Thrill and was chatting with them about why they were not selling the GS2. She said it was because the LTE network is coming out soon and they want to wait for LTE devices instead. She hinted that the LTE will be operational in Austin by years end. I also read that another store told a user that the LTE version of the phone will be out by November but take that with a grain of salt.

So, are you phoneless now? If that's true, I might end up doing the same thing after my 30 days are up. That gives me 30 days to research everything and figure out how true that is.

When I went into an AT&T store yesterday to inquire about the phone, I was told that the phone was released but that no AT&T store in California and Texas received their shipment and that there was no expected delivery date. He suggested that I either order online or buy it from a Best Buy or Fry's Electronics store.

I bought mine from Best Buy after making sure that I could keep my unlimited data plan. I doubt the inventory issue stems from LTE since we don't have it here.

AT&T Official Reply:

Beginning Oct. 2, AT&T will offer a great new addition to its Android lineup: the Samsung Galaxy S II.
The Galaxy S II will be available in the majority of our retail stores, online at att.com, and via our national retail partners. There are, however, a small handful of markets where Galaxy S II will not be sold directly in AT&T company-owned retail stores or dealer channels. This reflects our plans to add even more great Android devices in the coming weeks and months as we redesign our stores for the holiday sales period. Again, all customers in all markets have convenient access to Samsung Galaxy S II through att.com, our national retail partners, and direct-to-home ordering from any AT&T store.

Let the speculation begin..

Greetings, i'm revenuer, a new member. Going from i4 to SG2 within the next couple of weeks.

I live in Texas on I-10 about halfway between Houston, Austin and San Antonio. We have an AT&T corporate store in town. The salesman there also told me that this part of Texas wouldn't be getting the SG2 either. He tried very hard to sell me a 4S tho. I declined. My area is 3G only as far as I kno.

I'm thinking bout ordering from amazon or Walmart but have concerns bout my unlimited data plan; i'll not upgrade without keeping it.

I might just goto best buy in Houston (45 min drive) and buy or order the phone. Not sure what to do. I've always just bought from an AT&T store.

Ideas? Experiences with this sort of situation?
Thanks,
Revenuer

The speculation seems to be around the November 10th date that a SG2 LTE could be available.
This would be the only reason not to sell the SG2 in that area of Texas. Plus the Christmas season is getting close.
