Would you ever buy a phone with a bigger screen than 4.3in??

I recently own a Droid X.
I love the 4.3 big screen and wish it could be alittle wider.

My question is

Do you prefer a big screen phones?
Any word on the next big screen upcoming phone thats worth waiting for?
i know the thunderbolt and Bionic is out with 4.3 screens.
is there any phone thats coming out with a bigger screen then 4.3?

i wish i can see a phone with dual 4.3in screens that folder/slide.

I would love a phone with a larger screen than mine currently. I think we will get to having larger screens on phone up to 7 inches with phones eventually replacing the 7 inch tablet niche, tablets will keep getting bigger and bigger as well.

I'm in the no crowd. I think their is a point when phones just become too big and i think 4.3 is my limit. I mean anything bigger and you might as well go after tablet. imho.

It's hard to answer this because it's not the actually screen that's to large it's the overall size of the device that may be to large.

Google sounds to be answering this issue with button less devices which will free up a lot of real estate.

I really like a 4" and think that is the perfect size. I would go up to 4.5, but that is it and only if the bezel around the screen was small enough. Won't go smaller than 3.7, but that would be hard to after getting used to larger screens.

I already did, I bought the Epic 4G Touch and it's a 4.52" screen. I won't go any bigger than this though.

I have a phone that is 4.5 but that's probably my limit. I want to always keep my phone hidden in public and a bigger screen wouldn't help.

I have a 4inch screen phone, and have tried a SGS2 with 4.3inch. The experience didnt seem much different. However 4.5 and bigger would seem a bit too much.

The only problem I can see with staying away from 4inch and bigger phones is that you'd be stuck to mid-range mostly.

Maybe 4.5" ... it depends on the design.

What I mean:
I've two 4.3" phones. The HTC Desire HD is feeling clumsy and the HTC Sensation is feeling gracefully in hand

Yes definitely, I would be up for it if they made a 7" phone. It seems like I could fit the original Galaxy Tab in my pockets quite easily.

Having a 7" display phone would be quite ridiculous looking when answering a call by placing one edge to your ear and having the microphone near your throat.

As for 4.5"+ displays, I'm with most of the others. Only if the actual dimensions of the phone were not too different from current 4.3"-4.5" phones.

When I first got my Droid X I was a little weary of the screen size. Now that I've had it for almost 18 months, I could definitely go bigger. I have big hands though. I think a 4.7" would be perfect for me and might consider as big as 5" but no bigger. You also have to remember that when the new phones start coming out with ICS pre-installed the devices wont have/need any Physical & Captive buttons, Making room for bigger screen's on the same size devices. So, In reality, we should be talking about device size as well.

HTFY I would! I got a 4.3" inspire and came from a blackjack II (a blackberry form factor winmo phone) and it seemed huge at first to me but now it's just fine and I'd like bigger. Played with a 4.5" infuse in the store, liked, we could go bigger than that!

I think another 0.3" would be acceptable, not sure about the 5.3" Galaxy Note though, I think that might be pushing it.

I think 5" is the max for a phone (super thin bezel), and 7" is the min for a tablet. anything in between is an identity crisis device and won't sell well.

Someone mentioned removing the hard capacitive buttons. That won't really help. It will just give you a super long/wide screen. I don't think that kind of aspect ratio is pleasant nor useful.

I wouldn't mind getting a screen bigger than 4.3 just as long as the overall phone size isn't too big. With Android 4.0, increasing the screen size shouldn't be an issue especially if manufacturers do not need to include buttons on the front of the phone.

Imagine the Bionic, DX, DX2 and even the D3 without capacitive buttons you can easily get another .2 or .5 inches worth of screen real estate without sacrificing the overall phone dimensions.

That would be sweet!

Edit: Didn't notice your last sentence, Novox. haha. I respectfully disagree. :eek:

Manufacturers will find a way to make it look right especially when 720p phones come out.

Well it's an issue of aspect ratio more than diagonal size. Yes, if the buttons go away, you DO get a bigger screen and a longer diagonal, but you have a very long rectangular shape.

720p implies a fixed aspect ratio of 16:9. So if you make your phone screen too rectangular, you're going to end up with thick black bars when watching video that's made at 4:3 or 16:9.

the qHD phones right now are 16:9 already. If you remove the buttons and keep the aspect ratio the same, your phone will get a lot wider. That kinda defeats the purpose of removing the buttons.

But yeah, I can't wait to have 720p on a 16:9 ~4.3" screen. That's insane pixel density and eye candy

I was thinking about that because these phones to me are just getting too big. I mean dont get me wrong after having the evo I dont want a phone smaller than 4" MAYBE 3.8 but no smaller. BUT bigger than 4.3 for a PHONE is just to big to me. I think we forget the reason we have a phone. I love the new convenience that came with technology but you got to draw a line.

It's funny to me, I remember my mother's phone was huge back in the day then they start getting smaller now there making them large again of course different type of large but still large. Imagine putting 7" CELL PHONE in your purse...lol...
