Steve Jobs has passed away: Condolences Thread

Like many others when i first got a text on my phone telling me about this tonight i thought it was a joke. I quickly went to the internet/twitter/facebook....

This is a sad day for the Tech world. I will be the first to admit that i often hate on certain Apple ways. The fact is that is all opinion based. The real fact is that this man has done more for the Tech world than can be put in to words. We have lost a founding father in the Tech world today. Steve Jobs will be missed. We would not have half of the tech that we have now if not for him. I remember my first computer class of any type when i was in the 6th or 7th grade was on an Apple. In fact that was my first computer experience period.

R.I.P Steve

As we all know the news has spread across the internet like wildfire, and Steve Jobs death has been announced. Everyone that knows me here knows I'm anti-everything-that-is-Apple and Steve Jobs along with Apple. On the business side of things, I still don't like Steve Jobs, and his business "tactics". We all know that, and I'm not going to expand much further on that.

However -- the tech enthusiast in me loves Steve Jobs. He's the type of person I wish I could aspire to be like. While I read and drool over the latest tech bits, Steve Jobs was the guy making the news happen -- even before I was born. Steve Jobs went from zero to mega-CEO richer than most of us can ever dream of -- and he did it twice.

I can easily say Steve Jobs was the greatest tech titan of all time, even better than Bill Gates, Larry Page, Eric Schmidt, etc. Why? People loved him, and people loved to hate him. He was the pinnacle of success, the dream of every fanboy to be able to live in Steve Jobs shoes making people fall in love with a product over and over again even if it doesn't have the most features from a technical standpoint. If it weren't for Steve Jobs, personal computing wouldn't be what it is today. Without his push of the Apple and AppleII, it could have been easily another decade or so before we saw the likes of affordable home computing.

It is safe to say that without the iPhone, smartphones would have never hit the mainstream and things wouldn't be where they are today. I'd most likely still be using Windows Mobile 6.x and cursing over lost styli. Even though I have never bought an Apple product, and as of right now likely never will, I can say with confidence that Steve Jobs is just as responsible for the mobile boom in technology as everyone else combined.

May you rest in peace Steven P. Jobs. You will be sorely missed by your fans, and perhaps even more by your enemies. :(
