Help Is it safe/worth upgrading to Gingerbread?

I just got the evo and it came with it on it, a BIG problem is that it won't recognize voice commands or search when you are in a noisy environment, such as in a car driving down the road with ac on. Doesn't help if you yell or turn ac off.

I heard that this started with the update, so if this is a feature you value, as in using it to Navigate, I wouldn't do it!

Are you talking about the Google Voice Search app? Because that has NEVER worked properly for me anyway! :)

That is what i was talking about. On the Moment, I would just click on it and say, "navigate to Memphis" and it would start up Navigation and route me there.

Tried it coming home from colorado with my wife driving and i got no response. I think I had the same problem directly in the Nav app.

Rooted now and I am not sure if it works right or not, seems too but haven't fully checked it out yet.

Just thought I'd bump this thread one time as I consider finally upgrading to Gingerbread. Anyone have any scary stories to tell before I flip the switch? :)
I have Froyo on my Evo 4G...everything works great. Why upgrade? For what? I asked the same thing on here before and decided to keep what's working. Crazy to have to wonder what it might do the phone isn't it? If improved battery life is the best thing at the expense of voice to text I ain't trading...good luck.

Yeah, that was my original thinking. Gingerbread didn't seem to offer any new features, so I waited. But I guess I feel like by now I should be up-to-date. :)

Edit: So the Google Voice Search stuff works for you? Every time I say "Send text to XXX", it puts "to XXX" in the body and nothing in the To field. :(
