I really hope this phone is worth the wait. And based upon what I've read about the Nexus S, it sounds like HDMI out is unlikely. Which SUX. Straight up. If I'm going to move to Android, I want HDMI out, and the ability to send a text message from any app. Similar to what a jailbroken iPhone has (QuickSend). It's an amazing feature, and every search I do on the subject has all Android users asking "what does it do?" It's amazing that they don't know more about the competition. QuickSend is something that Android needs. Game changer.

Does the darn thing have external volume controls? If Samsung is willing to potentially leave off "essentials" like a micro-sd slot and notify LED, perhaps no volume either. I hope not because that would bug me.

Have there been other Android phones w/o volume controls? I think they'd be making a big mistake if they did. I wouldn't want to be on a phone call and have to hunt for soft volume controls.

At least some of the SGS2 versions do have the LED, so it's not impossible that Prime for VZW will. The videos and photos floating around may not show one, but I don't really trust them anyway. Also as far as I know the only reason for the missing micro-sd slot rumor is that it wasn't listed in leaked specs -- which really doesn't prove anything.

If they do have volume buttons, I hope they put them on the same side as the headphone jack. My DX has the jack on the opposite side and it's a pain to change the volume between songs when it's in a belt case.
No idea, but the presence of a docking connector might(?) influence the position of other controls and connectors.

At this point, the worst we can do for the main specs is still rather amazing.

So I'm going to hit on a few points (again).

ICS hopefully brings about a much more solid:

Keyboard. Gingerbread's keyboard was a step in the right direction. Now hit it out of the park. I expect nothing less than amazing.

Messaging app. Something like handcent/gosms/ect. only integrated into the experience much better.

Phone app. Sorry, but dialer one just straight up blows android's phone out of the water.

A BBM/WhatsApp-esque service. Perhaps through google+, but it *has* to be non-clunky. No having to set up an entire G+ account and only being able to add people who have G+ accounts. Should be as simple as BBM where everybody with an android phone has the service automatically.

There's quite a bit more I have, but these are just the few I felt needed to be said right now. (wasting time 'till launch haha)

Hey after looking at a screenshot it says no sim card... Doesn't GSM phones use sim cards? not CDMA? I haven't worked with world phones or GSM phones but don't they use sim and, but Verizon doesn't use Sim right? Does that make any sense? I know very little about networks pretty obvious with this post...

LTE is a GSM technology.. and it does use a SIM card..

-Google Talk. You can IM with anyone on an Android phone and on a computer (if they're logged in to gmail) I'm almost off text messaging because most ppl I know are on Talk.

When I do text though, I use Google Voice, which I do hope is improved and is integrated more into the phone.

There was a great anticipation for an HTC Thunderbolt release date announcement - and then things got quiet until the iP4 was out on Verizon. People were upset, the sources of good rumors (yeah - I did it) mostly dried up.

There is a great anticipation for a Prime release date announcement - and the iP4S has been announced.

And - Samsung is now seeking an injunction to block the iP4S from release in France and Italy over claims that Apple is violating two of their WCDMA patents.

So - I don't about it being or not being a gesture of respect over Steve's unfortunate demise.

But - the patterns are starting to take an interesting form.

I have a question I hope one of you can answer. It seemslike everybody in here has Verizon? The two of us with Sprint are here too. The Iphone 4S is a world phone with GSM/CDMA radio but no LTE OR WIMAX does that mean if the rumors are true the phone has some sort of combo radio does it mean us two People with Sprint will not have WIMAX OR ANY 4G?

I hope this is on topic and gives you chip guys something good good to talk about and gets Sprint people into the discussion.

Well - if we're talking Nexus, the S has a special version for Sprint using WiMAX/4G - so if this is a Nexus Prime, no reason it couldn't get similar treatment.

Then again - we have Sprint saber-rattling again about going to LTE, or least the press is saying it.

And if you're referring specifically to the iP4S, nothing was said in the launch announcement about any advanced radio beyond a straight one-model world capability.

AnandTech - Apple iPhone 4S includes HSPA+ 14.4, GSM/CDMA Dual Mode, Diversity

The iP4 already comes in two flavors, CDMA and GSM - I think Apple would rather just price and market it with both radios and have one version.

Unlike Android, where we get lots of hardware variations.

Prime = custom, the Android way

iP4s = one size fits all, the Apple way

In my opinion.

assuming the video is the Prime I dont understand what has been
touted as no hard buttons or capacitance buttons due to ICS.I see how the
5 icons along bottom disappear - would that compare to the
launcher on my Incredible? Those disappear when an app or video is launched.
What are the "buttons" along the bottom? are those capacitance?
They seem to be permanent and a non usable area. Sorry if I got terminology
wrong, I was just thinking this device was basically all screen (which
would cut down on overall size)

Thank You for your answer. That was my concern none of the leaks mention any kind of WiMAX 4G. Only mention of it ever was the poem from Black_man_x. I am tired of my Evo 3D I have to sit next to power supply. I am one buy it now away from buying a Nexus S. I'm waiting to see if I can get Nexus Prime instead. The delay and all the rumors are killing Me!! Will it be on Sprint in November?

The buttons at the bottom (back, home, menu) in the video of ICS are on screen and not capacitive. Which means they can go away and be used for screen real estate when watching videos then brought back up on demand? Not sure how yet lol

Hi All, been away for awhile and finally decided to put in my 2 cents. I'll be crazy and try to apply a bit of logic.

1. Many people on these forums believe that BMX, tfleming, P3 and britishturbo (you know who I mean) to be among the most reliable sources. vz_wired, for whatever reason is becoming this way - whether it's logical or not.

2. BGR has proven himself over and over again to be a largely unreliable source for quite some time.

3. Samsung has indicated that something BIG was headed our way.

4. Samsung has nominated a gaming unit - as yet unidentified - for the CTIA awards.

5. Virtually everyone in the world believes the Prime to be a game changing device.

6. So, here's the tie in: If we think BMX, britishturbo, P3, vz_wired to be reliable sources, and most of us do I think, then I'd draw this conclusion:

THE GSM SPECS ARE LIKELY ON POINT.

Why? Because BGR (and then everyone else) published specs that appeared to contradict all the above logic. Most of us think P3 leaked the info to BGR, so is P3 wrong or is it possible that he's screwing with BGR to make him look worse? What if P3, who looks very much in concert with BMX, britishturbo and others - at least on Twitter, did it as a red herring?

Let's face it, everything points to a 1.5 Ghz processor, an 8 MP camera, and the other big specs. Vz_wired disagreed with BGR's specs, britishturbo disagreed with those specs, BMX didn't agree or disagree with the specs but commented essentially that it was quite a surprise (sarcastic) that BGR screwed up the specs ON THE GOOGLE + PAGE FOR britishturbo, etc. They have all said that we'll be very happy with the outcome, so I have no reason not to believe that they've held the device and know what it contains.

Couple all of this with the upcoming release of the SGS II HD LTE in Korea and I frankly think it's highly illogical to believe the NP will launch with anything but equal specs, and likely better specs than it. Will it be an Exynos? God I hope so, but I think it's 50/50...I'll ask a basic question that's been on my mind for quite a while:

If Samsung has been developing the 4212 for months and they've been in communication with Google re: NP for months, is it not possible that they decided awhile back to use the 4212? Why is it impossible that they've thoroughly tested it in house and it's ready for internal distribution? All the speculation about 2012 is predicated on SAMSUNG'S STATEMENT. Isn't it at least possible that they've kept it under wraps, not unlike the information or disinformation about the Nexus Prime? I'm not saying it's a done deal, but it seems plausible that Samsung announces the device is "out for testing" to the world, but knows that most of it is already done in house...Someone tell me why that's not possible. Until then, I'm hanging on the specs provided by britishturbo, including the 1.5 Exynos!

Thanks and sorry for the novel...Hook 'Em!
