Dear All,

I am posting this as a last resort before I send the phone back to T-Mobile and any help or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Up until a couple of days ago my phone connected perfectly via USB cable to my P/C and I also used I syncr to load music on via itunes with no issues. Now for some unknown reason the pc no longer detects the phone and when I connect it via usb cable it just charges. I have tried a different cable and also a different pc but with no success. Both p/cs are however running windows Vista.

I have factory restored the phone but it still won't conenct via usb which seems very odd as it was working fine before.

Does this sound like a hardware fault or more of a quirky software problem?

Appolgies is this has been covered elsewhere but any help would be appreciated

Many thanks

i have SGS2 for about a week now and so far, i haven't had any major trouble with it..until now. yesterday i synched some photos in my Win7x86 system and that was the last time i managed to connect the phone via usb. ever since i can't get ANY response whenever i connect it, whether it's in normal or usb debug mode. i've been trying everything i could think of for 6 hours now and still nothing..now i'm one step away from throw-the-crappy-phone-out-of-the-window phase so please help...

When you connect the cable I just pressed the home button at the bottom of the phone and it worked.

Only thing can think of trying, unplug phone from computer then activate bluetooth on your phone then plug the phone into your pc and a prompt should auto come up to say need to deactivate bluetooth and click yes and then it should link.

Might not work but worth a try.

I found myself in a situation where i couldn't copy almost anything to my phones storage, both SD and external SD. Ive been constantly loosing connection while copying files. It seem that the latest driver or new firmware 2.3.4 is messed up.

That was when Phone was connected to PC as a...phone.

But, hey, there is BUT. You can connect your phone as...USB storage device :D

Go to Settings-->Wireless and network-->USB utilities and choose Connect storage to PC, while having popup saying: Connect USB cable to use mass storage plug usb into the phone and click Connect USB storage and confirm.

This way both phones SD cards will be visible in system as any other USB drive or pen-drive. IN this mode you will not be disconnected and you will have more operations on files and folders available! :)

Hope you will find it useful! :)

Hi,

Thanks Antakar, Unfortunately the method you have suggested is exactly how I have been connecting my phone via usb and now it just doesn't want to talk to a P/C.

I may well return the phone tomorrow as it is also suddenly losing a charge much quicker than normal which started at the same time as the usb connectivity issue. Today for example I charged it over night with 100% power at 7:am this morning and by 15:00 today it was flat without really using the phone so something odd is going on.

weird thing just happened. i got back from gym leaving the phone connected to pc and voila - it was connected (in usb debug). i unplugged it to try synch mode and no reposnse again. switched back to usb debug and in several attempts, nothing again.
now i changed the language in phone from my native to english (UK) and am connected again. switched language back and everything seems to be working just fine (in both modes, quite a couple of times too)
i really don't know what to make of all this and frankly am too tired of it for today.

and you have followed all the steps (particularly those in section 2) of hawker's post?

as i said, nothing happens in device manager in the first place so it might not be a solution ot my problem at all...didn't stop me from trying it twice though

Its a nightmare connecting on win7 64bit i.e. hunt down pci simple communications controller driver and finally getting to malfunctioning mtp device driver - until I forgo my usb extension cable, use the samsung cable provided and plug into a new usb port then it finally worked.

i'm not sure i understand.. am i supposed to find driver for pci simple communications control driver? never heard of anything like it tbh :) i suppose it's specific to motherboard?

...Only thing can think of trying, unplug phone from computer then activate bluetooth on your phone then plug the phone into your pc and a prompt should auto come up to say need to deactivate bluetooth and click yes and then it should link....

the mobile seems to work fine, the MTP Application pops up stating the device is connected

tried it in USB debug mode as well:)

Similar stuff here. After upgrade to 2.3.4 my battery goes down much quicker.
