Root Community ROM Lockup

Anyone else having issues with Ultimate Kangbang Community ROM 2.1 locking up? It seems that lately I have to pull the battery a lot more often and the past few days the system has very quickly drained the battery. I wish I knew what to check in the way of logs etc to figure out what is happening because I really like this ROM.

Anyone have any suggestions to fix? Or any other ROMs that people really like that are stable?

I'm right with you. Recently it's been giving my wife's phone some grief. Had to do a lot of batt pulls and a lot of FC's all of a sudden. I know she's not doing anything funky with it. Today -- her facebook app was suddenly gone and after a reboot, the old market showed up.

I'm in the process of shopping for a new ROM that will be stable for her....

My phone started to show USB connected when it was not plugged in, within a very short time the battery would drain. If I turned off the phone it would not restart, instead it would show the large battery image as if I was charging the phone. Sometimes after plugging in the USB and then removing it the charge indicator would stay on, again same high battery drain would occur.

After some research I discovered the is a common problem with many Droid phones. There is apparently a circuit that checks for conductivity between the pins in the USB connector. Any dust or anything that is slightly conductive on those pins will cause this.

I removed my battery, cleaned the port with compressed air, then wet it down with rubbing alcohol followed by more compressed air and that seemed to fix it. Happened again after my cleanup, I blew air in the port and voila, no more Irroneous USB detection. The moral of this story is to keep the USB port door closed when not in use.

My regular lockups were not caused by this, but I thought it best to share my experience.
