Right now i currently have the gingerbread-evo-deck rom on my evo but its kind of lagging and its slow sometimes. what's another AOSP rom i could download i dont really like sense. I also want really good battery life. I have heard cyanagon 7 (something like that) is a good rom but does it have good battery life. what are the best roms out right now?

i think ill try out CM7. i know how to switch roms but i dont know how to put a new kernel on there. and do u have the link for where i can download CM7?

if you go to the rom/kernel sticky of this forum, you can get both the rom and kernel. also cm7 is an aosp rom so you will need to flash the gapps file as well. this is so you can get all of the google apps like the matket and gmail. it is in the rom/kernel sticky as well.

just make sure that you use an aosp kernel. and tiamat has given the most consistent battery life for many users. usually with kernels results will vary. but the tiamat is an awesome kernel.

for cm7 wipe at least dalvik cache, cache, and data then flash the rom and the gapps file in the same recovery. after that boot your phone up. once you get set up, then you can flash the kernel.all you have to do is wipe only dalvik cache and cache and flash the kernel.

Thanks ocnbrze i think ill try CM7 and the tiamat kernel. this is only my second time installing a new rom, so does this delete things like my apps and stuff on my sd card? i forget thanks again.

Yes, you will have the equivalent of an out of the box phone. There are apps that can back up your application data such as titanium backup and apps that can back up your text messages (SMS backup). Also, i would suggest exportng your contacts to your SD card so you can import them quickly after.

I usually dont back up anything except for the contacts. I don't mind if my game progress isnt saved from ROM to ROM so i just redownload them from the market after flashing.

you need to disable notifications on the stock sms app. and i also like go sms pro better then handcent.

try widget locker:WidgetLocker Lockscreen not sure if it has a password option or not.

Battery issues are usually dependant upon all the different variables that go in to its "Lasting" abilities. I and most on AOSP ROMS prefer tiamat it seems to be the better kernel.

Some of the variables that go into battery issues are:
Tower - how close / far
Display - how bright / low
background apps - how many run in background how often you sync, how often email program checks email, how often facebook updates, etc...
Use: If your constantly on it then its going to use more battery. If you download a lot of stuff this will drain the battery. Live wallpapers some can be pretty battery intensive.

all these factors and then some affect battery issues.

+1 for go sms pro.
