Root Benefits of Rooting? Outweigh the Possible Risks?

What exactly are the benefits of rooting? I used my younger brother's Ascend as a guinea pig, but the Rom wasn't working, so I restored it -- I thought I had bricked it a few times; almost pissed myself.

Do the benefits outweigh the risk of bricking my Optimus M? How's the speed, etc.?

well if you do brick your phone its because you messed up somewhere along the line, just read carefully and nothing will go wrong. And worst case scenario you do brick you phone theres a guide to unbrick it. So no permanent harm will be done.

And yes there is a huge difference, especially if your phone constantly freezes/reboots, a cm7 rom will fix that (at least it did for me and others).

But in other words, you have nothing to lose. You can always restore to stock.

Rooting the phone is going to give you the best and fastest experience possible with the M. The ability to remove the Metro bloatware is enough benefit alone. When you add in the ability to OC and the custom ROMS we have here from our great dev group, it makes it even more worth it.

I know it may seem overwhelming at first but it's pretty easy if you read carefully and follow instructions. It's been my experience that the M is almost unbrickable. The fact that many here(including myself) are always here to help, doesn't hurt either. All you need to do is ask and someone will be more than willing to help you out or guide you through anything you don't understand.
