It was finally leaked today (10/11, anyway) that the new iphone 4s has an 800mhz A5 CPU. Anandtech did a benchmark analysis:

AnandTech - iPhone 4S Preliminary Benchmarks: ~800MHz A5, Slightly Slower GPU than iPad 2, Still Very Fast

Apparently iOS 5 is a real beast.

Interestingly, the galaxy tab 8.9 comes in 2nd place in a number of benchmarks. Why? Because only Honeycomb (android 3.0+) uses the 2nd core for browsing the web. This blew me away. In most applications, android ignores the 2nd cpu core.

There IS hope yet, however. When Samsung (and google) give us Ice Cream sandwich (android 4.0), iphone 4s should be about as fast or maybe even slower than our e4gt. Lets hope for a november release! *crosses fingers*

Except the GPU in the 4S is significantly better than our Mali-400 so that could still cause it to be faster... But its an iPhone :p that power doesn't mean anything!

I have seen different Benchmark scores, can't find the link, but someone is fibbing. It it may be faster at browsing the web, but most sites you can browse are mobile sites or sites with no flash content, which takes long to load. I think that is an unfair comparison.

Oh, and just because it is faster in a benchmark, doesn't mean it is faster in real world applications.

EDIT: This is always the game that iOS and Android plays. Apple makes a great phone, but in the time between their yearly releases, 10+ better Android phones are released. then Apple comes out with something fast and the cycle repeats.

crushes? i think you need to do more research than to just take one sites word. here are the actual readings directly from GLbenchmark. the site that provides the software to test these devices. here is the most current/updated list. keep in mind that we/us who have the GS2 can overclock with root, you cannont do that with an iphone. and right now curent stats show that the GS2 is faster stright out the box. here's the link do your own comparison.

So an overclocked SGSII @ 1.6ghz can beat an 800mhz iphone? Okay. But if you jailbreak an iphone you can overclock it too.

Like I said in my OP, the iphone4s crushes our phone because it uses both cores while we only use one. That is, until ice cream sandwich comes our way.

well if you say so. but i would rather have smooth video than choppy/dropped frames. like in this video doing a full broswer benchmark. keep your ipad2 and your ip4s if choppy video and dropped frames is what you like. as for me i will keep my butter smooth video GS2:)
