Root First Bionic ROM: UNL3ASH3D-V1.0

Go into Titanium Backup, longpress on the gmail app, convert it to a user app, uninstall it, and re install from the market, the skin is gone, this is what I did.

Thanks Paintball, but I should have been more specific in the "ok", "cancel" etc. buttons that are by design in framework as well as the black blur phone. They are very minor details and not ones that are remotely close to this being a poor ROM or developer (just different taste for me). I am still using his 1.4 ROM (as I also have it themed the way I like it).

How long was bootup for those upgrading to 1.7? I've been sitting at the M screen for almost 10min now. I know the previous ones took a little longer, but this is getting troublesome. I wiped everything but /data. I'll give it a couple more min, then I guess I'll batter pull and restore. Ugh.

I don't think boot up was longer than 10 minutes. I'm pretty sure the devs said you may run into issues if you do not factory reset/wipe data. I assume that is the cause.

When I loaded either 1.6 or 1.7 mine got stuck on the screen after the M then shut down. I pulled the battery and repeated to no avail. I went into the other room to get the data cable so I could reflash the phone and while I was preparing to do so I noticed that the phone was on and had finally booted up. It took a long time and was very frustrating but eventually came around and was fine after that.

Crap. Well I may have soft bricked it. I'll give it one more chance to boot up (can't even get into recovery) before I try SBFing it.

Anyone have any issues with accessing the Internal Memory? When I plug in my USB I only get the External SD Card. I no longer see the internal memory. Is that something that was modified with the ROM or is it just me. When I go to dismount my phone from windows it shows 2 USB storages however...kinda odd...

Edit:
Ok. I fixed the problem. Apparently I had unmounted the SDCard in CWM. I mounted it back on and now I can see both locations.

I did the same prep. Go have a cup of coffee and leave the phone behind. When you get back it should be alright. Just don't sit there staring at the phone it will make you crazy!

Well, I have everything set up to return it to stock
I'm just gonna let it charge a little bit more (it was around 90% when I started this nonsense) and then go ahead with RSDLite. I've never used so I figure, what the hell. I got nothing to do all afternoon
Going a bit off topic, but in the directions it explicitely says to plug it into the rear USB outlets. Well, my laptop only has them on both sides. Do you think it matters? I'll pop back over to the Root Guide and see if anyone says anything.

My laptop, an Asus, has two USB ports on the left side and one solo port on the right. I always plug it into the ones on the left, and have never had any problems. If you have a similar configuration, look for a port next to another.

It may not matter, and your mileage may vary. Best of luck!

Thanks. Yeah, I saw a quote later on in the Root guide saying to use one closer to the back. Mine has two each on each side at the same level. Went with the one on the right. RSD seems to be working okay. It's actually doing something. Wish me luck :(

And now I got a brand new Bionic! It's still flashing some radios (4G just popped up). I'll give it a sec to settle before signing in, rooting, and flashing a Nandroid :D Thanks for the help guys.

The USB directions are mainly aimed at desktop where most of the current PCs use front USB ports. The reason they indicate to use the USB in the rear ports is because the USBs are mounted directly on the motherboard itself and not an extension like the front USBs. The front USBs may have a weaker signal cause it has to travel thru an extension line from the motherboard itself. I've had issues with front USBs in the past where the connections weren't plugged in properly or not aligned.

On a laptop however that isn't really the case cause the motherboards aren't uniform like desktops. Most current desktops use a ATX or miniATX form while laptops depends on the manufacturers. I don't believe any laptops use any sort of extension as far as I know but there is no standard for laptop motherboards and every manufacturer likes to make their laptops unique. I'd say it's a good safe bet to use just about any USB on the laptop cause it is most likely soldered to the motherboard at it's position. If you doubt it just go lookup the layout of the motherboard online somewhere.

Instructions said unless you are coming from 1.6, to wipe everything. Might be the cause of your problem.

Haha, I might have to do one for old time sake. So far, I'm quite impressed. This ROM is def smoother than stock.

Just wait til they officially release [D3]BLURR3D V1 Beta. Theory had posted a link to it I think 2 days ago on rootzwiki for about an hour for more people to test it.

I was fortunate in being able to grab it ... if you think this [R3]BLURR3D 1.7 is fast and smooth, wait til he officially releases the [D3]BLURR3D .... it sure knocked me right off of my socks.

This is what I use to restore. Anyone know if there's a difference between this method and the rsdlite method. Like is one better than the other at wiping the bionic?

I'm curious about that too. Other than downloading all the files to use RSDlite, the process was quite fast. The one thing I liked about this one-click method is that it gives you the option to immediately root again.

I believe it is the same file just not using rsdlite. I am trying to find out now if it is the full or light file.

I was looking at the RSDlite files and some threads about it. It seems there are two types, I'm not sure which one is equal to the fastboot file.

I don't think the fastboot file reinstalls the kernel and it doesn't totally wipe data files either which in most cases that's ok.

Let me know what you find, dfib.

Which launcher is theory using for deblurred? I think Kejar is using a modified Super Launcher 2. I'm not a big fan of that but I at least I can replace it with LPP or my current favorite...Go Launcher.

I hate having two launchers on my phone that's why I've kept the Stock Moto UI for now.

Hi everybody. I was wondering if you guys could give me some help.

I came from the OG droid to the bionic. I rooted my bionic as soon as it was available, but I was disappointed that CWR did not have ROMS to download as simply as it did with the droid.

Can you guys tell me if it's worth it to flash this unleashed ROM in the OP? What is the difference b/w it and stock?
